Any recent news about the remaining quantities? I would order Zardoz now but I want to use it to meet the $150 requirement for the next signed promotion. Will Zardoz make it to the next promotion before a sellout ?

I've got a tracking number and a shipping label created. Hopefully this gets sent out soon and will arrive for the weekend.

Still on the fence if I want to get this or not. I like it but just not sure how often I would watch it. I worry about it selling out though by the time I have the money to preorder it.

If you're on the fence, I'd pick it up. Because if you have it and you ultimately decide that you didn't really want it anyway, i doubt you'll have a problem recouping your $34.30 on eBay once its sold out.

Might not be able to pre-order it for 3 more weeks, maybe 4. Not sure if a movie like this will sell out before then but I think it's lame that ScreenArchives puts a temporary pre-charge on your bank account. It's silly because you could have the money in your account when they do that and later when it's actually time to charge you because the item is going to ship you could have $0 in your bank account or your credit card could have been maxed out by then.

I'm sort of in the same situation. If it gets low quantity then I might pick it up sooner rather than later, but I would like to wait until next months pre-orders go live that way I can save on the shipping and get Zardoz and A Man for All Seasons together. If for some reason I can't snag Zardoz, it won't be that big of a deal. It would be nice to own, but not something if I don't get it at 29.99 that I'll be hunting for on EBAY for much more.

Exactly!

The main movies on my radar that I must have the money ready when they are ready for pre-order are the Argento films Synapse is working on. I know that won't be for quite a long time but I don't want to miss out on those, especially Suspiria.

I ordered Zardoz along with The Believers during TT's birthday sale back on the 3rd. The way it's looking it's going to be a while before this order ships.

Da-yam. Good review. That's it, quandary over, I'm ordering. If nothing else, this will bring back such delicious memories of enjoying sci-fi movies in the early 70s, before Lucas changed everything almost literally overnight a few years after Zardoz barfed out Enfields, Webley's, and ammunition.

Those of you who haven't seen the film ... that's one treat that I don't think will seem dated.

Great review! I think he's a little bit too hard on the film itself, though, as I've always found the "trippy" visuals quite adequate and cool, the Zardoz head scenes are phenomenally impressive, and even Zed falling through the mirror scene is just so cool looking even if you can tell how simple they choreographed it. And to me, the library book reveal was a great moment, quite a scene with an audience back then, and yes it's absolutely ridiculous, but so is the entire concept of the film so it fits perfectly. I will agree that the film does get a bit talky in the later half and may test the patience of some, and it did even back in the 70's, but overall, Zardoz is still a truly unique, wild, and one-of-a-kind film for those adventurous enough to give it a fair shot.

If a $35 charge is enough to get you into financial trouble, maybe you shouldn't be spending your precious money on movies. Just saying.

I've been there myself, but I also know a lot of people overreact to preauthorization holds. On my checking account, the hold is in effect just a free dip into overdraft protection, with NO fee unless it finally posts into overdraft territory. (But then I now use credit cards so the holds just hit available credit instead.)

Thanks for the link. I always love that guy's write-ups. He's definitely my favorite reviewer on any of the DVD/Blu-ray sites, I like that he tends to stick to lesser-known flicks and seems to only write about them when he really has something to say about them. I used his stuff to make most of my decisions on what to buy during the last Twilight Time sale (he certainly doesn't review all of them, but he reviews a lot of them). Based on his write-up I might enjoy this movie more than he did, but even if I don't, it sounds like there's no way I'll be let down by it. The sheer audacity clearly makes it a must-watch for a nerd like me.
