Once they are gone – they are gone!
RELEASE DATE: TUESDAY, APRIL 14TH, 2015

“Boorman’s finest film is a wonderfully eccentric and visually exciting sci-fi quest…directed with a wild-eyed associative imagination.”
—Film4.com

“A futuristic, metaphysical, and anthropological drama testing John Boorman in three creative areas. The results: direction, good…script, a brilliant premise…and production, outstanding.” —Variety

“A sparkling display of fireworks, brilliantly shot and directed.”
—Time Out London

Writer-director John Boorman’s fabulously bizarre Zardoz (1974) is a visually stunning science fiction/fantasy fable starring Sean Connery as the spanner in the works of a dreamily languid future society. A primitive Adam, Connery’s Zed charges like a bull through the china shop of a civilization from which all signs of lusty humanity have been drained. Co-starring the fascinating Charlotte Rampling, and featuring spectacular production design by Anthony Pratt and stunning cinematography by Geoffrey Unsworth.
[Show spoiler]Nick Redman has stated over at KillerPov podcast that he is trying to schedule Zardoz for February. It's a brand new restoration by Fox.

Jesus Christ, this is one of my top 5 movies of all times. Please, a 4K transfer.

By the way, this is the most visionary and inventive movie of the seventies.

YES! I don't buy much Twilight Time (I've got Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia, I've been meaning to pick up their John Fords, and I'm planning to get Moby Dick) but this is one I thought might never see blu-ray! Day 1 for sure.

Boorman is really having a banner year for blu-ray releases.

I remember seeing previews of this movie in the theater way back when, but still know little about it. With all the raves I'm seeing, there's a good chance I'll be picking this up. Plus you usually can't go wrong with Sean Connery ... usually (hehe). Thanks to all for the info.

I wholeheartedly agree and I'm absolutely serious.

Now that everyone here in this thread had such a great time making fun of "Connery in diapers", I would like to post a different picture and stress that the Z character is "growing up" during the course of the film, which also visually reflects in his clothing.

The film is loaded with all kinds of visual symbolism, even the real life artwork in the background isn't really accidental (e.g. René Magritte, Vincent Van Gogh etc.)

If anyone is waiting to order Zardoz, I would not wait too long. It looks to be on its way to being sold out.

Good to see it's selling well. Justifies more remasters of divisive sci-fi classics I hope.

If I made my living betting on which blu-ray titles would sell well, it wouldn’t be much of a living.

Unbelievable! I saw this in the theater when I was 8 or 10 years old with a buddy. We left laughing at the goofiness of the whole thing. I've seen it in the last couple of years and I still like it (enough to order it), but I appreciate it with a different perspective. And it's still goofy. I'm surprised that there are 3000 other non-scalping folks out there that like it enough to pay the $30+ admission!

Congrats to TT for being farsighted enough to print 5000, and good luck to them with their slow sellers.

It doesn't surprise me. People rediscovered this great masterpiece over the decades. Thank God, time is the right judge.

I am confident Zardoz will look very nice...not a concern for me.

Any recent news about the remaining quantities? I would order Zardoz now but I want to use it to meet the $150 requirement for the next signed promotion. Will Zardoz make it to the next promotion before a sellout ?

Still on the fence if I want to get this or not. I like it but just not sure how often I would watch it. I worry about it selling out though by the time I have the money to preorder it.

If you're on the fence, I'd pick it up. Because if you have it and you ultimately decide that you didn't really want it anyway, i doubt you'll have a problem recouping your $34.30 on eBay once its sold out.
