Default Is it a TV problem?

I have already calibrate my HDTV and I just don't see any grain in my bluray movies. What's happening?

By the way, it is a 32" LG, 720p.

i think no grain is good.. some movies have some grain but most blu ray should be almost completely grain free..

What BDs?
How far are you from the display?
Have you tried "300"?

Close Encounters is probably your most grainy movie, not that that's a bad thing. I find on a properly calibrated display, grain is barely visible.

cloverfield has some grain. right when they are on top of te building and they see the big explosion in what appears to be mid town NYC. there some grain there.. but since you got your tv calibrated it might be noticable.

I have not seen any grain in this movie. I wouldnt really think there would be since it was shot on an HD camera..

Turn off noise reduction, reduce sharpness.

It might be harder to see on a 32 inch display. Like it was suggested on a previous post turn off DNR on your display and player. DNR will soften details including grain (and you definitely don't want to blur details!).

Ill have to take another look. No biggie either way, but I thought that Grain was due to the Film Stock and that movies that are shot on HD cameras eliminate this...

Many director's choose to create a grain structure for a digitally recorded film in order to give it the feel of a movie recorded on film.

Also, as anyone who has ever used a pro-sumer grade HD camera can tell you, there is grain under less-than-ideal lighting conditions... just not anywhere near the levels you get on film or DV or tape
