and you know this, how? the Sony DID recall 2.40 when it first came out because it was OFFICIALLY ACKNOWLEDGED that it was bricking consoles. 360 consoles had a notorious fall update that bricked their systems. Any changes to the BIOS can render whole systems useless... and I don't believe this is just coincidence considering the tract record of the sony products I have owned (save my VAIO which died 1 year after i had it). I couldn't tell it was immediate because it happens to discs after 45mins+ of watching... i had not watched a movie or played a game since I had updated it... so who could tell? as far as I'm concerned, it was immediate.
