does anyone even understand what FW is on this board? yes, it's SOFTWARE but it's embedded to the HARDWARE... so unlike your applications SOFTWARE it is programmed to to tell your HARDWARE what to do... this is why sony can add feature sets to the PS3 through updates... when you restore you HDD your firmware, which is stored in the flash memory, is still there. i think people are getting too caught up on the immediate and gradual issue...

the issue was immediately found when playing movies...
it completely FUBARed the system after i backed up and restored the system. not discounting it could be an actual hardware issue though, but it's too convienent to say that... after all, i have a 60 gig with 2.41 PS3 which has no issues whatsoever, and it's older than the 80 gig with the 2.42.

OMG... I didn't think i'd get the same harrassment HERE, of all places.
