1st of all I've noticed that some (not all) of the people in this forum are complete a-holes. Nothing personal, just something I've noticed. They come across as extremely elitist and anyone who DARES to have an opinion that differs from theirs, or dares to question something that that person already knows the answer to, are deemed to be an idiot and a loser and shouldn't have internet priviliges or something.

Always found it interesting the people who take the time to tear apart a posting that they don't like. lol

As for my audio snob comment. I was merely pointing out that while a lot of people are concerned with how perfect the audio has to be, I never have really had a super duper stereo setup. So while someone who has the surround sound theater set up in their living room might be able to tell the difference between the sound options, if I'm there with my TV and no additional speakers, I don't really think I'm going to have the same reaction.

Kinda like the people who post music online and they're like "is this an EAC rip? If it's not, I'm not bothering with it" and I'm just like, maybe you have a big stereo setup where you can tell the difference, but I have a set of headphones and an Ipod, so I don't care.

Not that I would ever grab music online, mind you.

And for the other point people made about HOFD being one of the first out of the gate, I apologize profusely for not knowing that. I am just now getting into the BD/PS3 game and so I don't know the entire history of BD releases.

Perhaps some of the a-holes that were especially a-hole-ish about that, can write/type up a history of BD releases, so I know exactly when they were released. Then you can add a little footnote at the end of each section, something to the effect of "never bring up quality of these", "Not really worth complaining about" "if you bring up these we'll castrate you on the internet for all to see"

So there. Any questions about what I posted, feel free to post them up.

As I said I'm extremely sorry that I wasted people's time with a question that I wanted to know the answer to.

Also sorry that I didn't know the 5th Element buyers got the free upgrade. And I totally agree that since they offered a free upgrade to the new version, that that totally negates the fact that they put out a shitty transfer in the first place. All is forgiven my son, walk through the gates to Heaven.
I agree- lots to address.

1. It's never good to start off at a forum calling members "a-holes". It just isn't going to end well. It's the internet and people are going to do and post things you don't like.

2. While audio is obviously not important to you (TV speakers?!? Seriously?!) it is of high or even primary importance to many here on the board. There's a large section of the forum devoted to audio hardware and there's a large contigent of forum members that say "no lossless? no sale." I would suggest to you that while it is of little importance to you, dismissing the issue as unimportant or that the people that hold that in high regard are "audio snobs" isn't going to get you very far.

3. Your comments about not knowing the history of a particular film or its release are valid. Your comments that people should "write up a history" for you is hypocritical. Don't go getting on people's cases about how they're all "a-holes" followed up with you being one yourself.

Welcome to the forum. Chill out a little bit. Maybe get a feel for the place before starting any more threads. By the way, I dig your avatar of Odesu (sp). You can't be all bad with that.

Oh Dae Su. Yeah that movie is cool.

Didn't mean to infer that Audio shouldn't be important to anyone else. Just saying it doesn't matter to me as much because I don't really have a setup to appreciate it. In the future I'll probably care more because I'll have a setup for it.

And yeah I was being a dick. I just get frustrated with sites where someone joins up and posts up asking questions or making observations and people just shit on them from the jump.

It's like they want to "haze" them or something by treating them like crap. I'm not really into that.

I try to treat people with respect as long as they treat me with respect. Not everyone has the same amount of knowledge as the next man when it comes to audio/video technical things.

I am going to avoid a mean post here. But the way I look at it, DVD's looked terrible when they came out. Blu-Ray is the same way. While they looked better than DVD, they still needed time to get into the flow of things.

That very well could be. And considering that it apparantly was one of the first ones out the gate, could also go to explain.

Back on track here...throw f'ing Robocop into the mix! If 2001 can look spectacular at almost 40 years old, so should every other damn movie!!! My 2 cents!!
