I had no problems with Dallas-Howard and Pratt, but the OG JP cast will always have a special place in my 90's baby heart.

Problem with Pratt and Howard is their characters are done, their arcs complete. Bringing them back is shoving them into a new movie to make more money, it has no real narrative reason. I know, I know, many sequels do the same thing. A lot of the best ones don't, however.

Let's hope they really come up with a solid new story for them. I feel like this movies has incredible potential to be another Mummy Returns or Transformers 2.

That was my problem with Cars 2. Mater and Lightning had their arcs in the first one, and the second one didn't add anything to that. They should have just stuck with the Michael Caine spy-mobile throughout...

I've actually got a REALLY bad feeling about this one. Universal has a tendency to go bigger and bigger with a lot of sequels, Fast and Furious, Bourne and The Mummy being prime examples. With Jurassic Park I feel they really need to scale back, but it'll probably end up an even bigger and even more stupid action CGI-extravaganza. I really hope I'm wrong, I really, REALLY do.

I would prefer the sequel to have fresh characters, like The Lost World (mostly) did. I especially would prefer Pratt and Dallas Howard to not return but i guess Pratt coming back was a foregone conclusion due to his popularity now. It's frustrating when the biggest hit of the year leaves you cold and disappointed as you can't enjoy what everyone else loves so much, or can't see where all the praise and enthusiasm is coming from.

Yeah, you forgot that part.
The key bit is 'a fraction of the size'. That wouldn't be a Indominus Rex. Again, the entire reason why he was contemplating the idea was because he knew Owen could control the raptors.

By 'a fraction of the size', he is referring to raptors (which we know the IR contains part of the DNA of).

Personally, I wouldn't be so bothered about a Jurassic World sequel without Chris Pratt. I just hope they get one of the original main cast in it this time round too. Let's see Jeff Goldblum as Ian Malcolm team up with Owen Grady to stop Henry Wu sending raptors to war.

Oh my god no he's not, Gray comments to a screen with Indominus on it and says "that's not a real dinosaur" and that's when Hoskins says his thing about what they could do with Indominus at the fraction of the size. Please pay attention to what you're watching.

Both those franchises had sequels that were better than the original. Ok, F&F's sequels were all still not that great (except maybe Five), but both Supremacy and Ultimatum were better than Identity IMHO.

The real question will be who they hire to direct. If Treverrow is doing Episode 9 then I guess he's booked? There wasn't a whole lot of story to tell in JW and it was still reasonably entertaining, so as long as the director is solid he/she can hopefully make militarized dinosaurs workable.

I agree that Fast and Furious 5 was the best one, but that's because at the time it was very different from the previous ones, and the first one is still second best imo. 6 and 7 almost feel like parodies of the fifth one.
The Bourne films are great across the board, but I do think the first one is the best one. By Ultimatum, Bourne felt more like a terminator than a vulnerable human. It just felt a bit too over the top for my taste.

They should get Stephen Sommers or Renny Harlin to direct the next one, they'd be affordable directors and they have both made lots of fun, fx heavy movies and are in need of a new hit.

I'm not sure if I'd prefer to see the next sequel go bigger or smaller, either approach could work. JW did things I thought I would for sure hate if I ever saw them in a JP film, but somehow the movie made it work for me. I really loved its over the top zaniness, so if they want to keep going in that direction and even try to upstage this one, sure. If they want to go smaller, more intimate and more serious, that would also be welcome.

Personally I'd love to see a JP movie that was more in the horror vein, but I realize that will never happen.

I don't think Universal would just go all out from here. They know what the JP franchise means to people, they know they have to keep it grounded (with exceptions)

You're not paying enough attention to be so anal about this.

Wait - they knew each other from working at the park, going out once, it Not working out, & they end together after the events of JW. So, now that they're finally Together, that's it, end of story?

The next one could be ___ years later, they're still together (or married), & you go from there (with the people who got away [Dr. Henry Wu, the Ingen Contractor guy], what they did, why, etc).

Not true: they didn't go with the "dinosaur-human hybrid mercenaries" concept from earlier JP4 scripts.
