My best buy steelbook arrived on Monday. Unfortunately the steelbook won't snap shut and stay shut. The little clips onside that hold the case shut are barely there and they dont stay together when the case is closed. Ive got another steelbook that is the same way. Anyone else have this problem with steelbooks?

Would it be dumb to pass on the steelbook?
I say get the steelbook and purchase the documentary online for $9.99 (I got mine on Amazon Video). That's what I did. I'm even going one step further and picking up the 3D version tomorrow, to put the 3D disc into the steelbook to replace the DVD.

Watched the documentary today. Really thorough. I'd say it's about as comprehensive as a documentary about the original Mad Max is going to get. In your case, you might want the Anthology since you don't own the others. I have them all. But that steelbook is pretty great.

I thought I had this problem on The Hobbit: Battle of the Five Armies steelbook, but then I realized I wasn't closing it hard enough. I assume that's not the same as your situation.

Well... watch that last True Detective episode and you'll understand a reference about Vince Vaughn in the desert.

Just debating whether to blind buy or rent?
Now, I don't love or hate the Gibson titles. They're just "there" for me. But with the overwhelming love for this, I get excited.
Especially surprised because it seems, from what I've read, that it's non stop action, which makes the 89 average at Metacritic all the more impressive.
I feel like this could be like the latest installment of Rambo, which was non stop action, blood, and fighting, but still the most fun of the bunch.

Any input?
It's a lot better (and more coherent in its action staging and editing) than Rambo. It also subverts a lot of genre conventions, which is refreshing. It's pure adrenaline, from beginning to end, and is easily the most exciting and kinetic action movie I've seen in years.

In other words, yeah, I think buying it is a safe option. If you don't like the film itself, then you can at least use it for demo material with it's outstanding picture and audio quality.

I think i'll rent this first before I consider buying it. I never saw the other three, and this movie looks so dirty and strange, despite all the praise.

That's part of what's so great about it.

The Cell? Who would want to reference that?

It was pretty sweet a few years ago when there was a real push for 3D. I remember a lot of members complaining about having to buy the 3D version to get the steelbook or some other special packaging. But now it's apparently swinging the other way around. It was nice to have options for 3D releases but it's really the movie that counts. I actually like the 3D cover for Mad Max Fury Road over the 2D only version and the Steelbook, so I got lucky this time around. But if I was going 2D only, I'd probably go for the steelbook. It's definitely a more interesting cover than the regular 2D Blu-ray.

It's been like that here for a few years now. Apparently if Amazon has a physical facility in your state you get charged tax. Doesn't apply to marketplace purchases, though...

USA Black and White Cut of the Film

In an interview around the film's theatrical release, it was stated that a black and white version or cut of the film would be included in the blu-ray release, is it included? from what I can tell it isn't.

Not with this release. They need something to get you to double dip!

My sleep schedule is destroyed thanks to some medication, so it's gonna be real interesting seeing how my body reacts to the idea of going to Best Buy at 10AM tomorrow. Might just settle for the normal version. Oh wells.

Eager to see the movie again either way! Best of the Summer for sure.

Got my alarm set for 9 AM to get up and be at my Best Buy when they open. It's a little bit of a drive since I have to go into town.

I'm also contemplating whether or not to play this in the car once I get on the freeway.

Might not be a good idea, though.

I've been reading and watching reviews of this movie and quite a few people said, "mad max type of movie its not for everyone" what do they mean by that? i mean it got great ratings from basically everywhere so i don't see how i wont find this a great blind buy.
