My horror marathon is not going well early on. Missed watching one on Wednesday, then I decided to do a Stage Fright double feature on Thursday, but 20 minutes into the second movie it started freezing and I didn't feel like watching another movie, and now today I have relatives over and they do not like horror movies. Guess I have to make up for it next week with some Scream Factory double features.

October 1st: [Show spoiler] October 2nd: Tusk = ![]() ![]() ![]() Kevin Smith's second horror film (I'll be doing the first soon), and...(sigh) I'm really sad to give this just a 3, The acting is fantastic (besides one, I'll get to that in a little bit), the writing is amazing, there are some amazing monologues in this film that are truly enthralling and I love (or love to hate) most of the characters (there's that one I flat out don't like that I'll mention soon), it was also kind of brilliant, a parody of films like The Human Centipede, but done in such a tongue-in-cheek way that's still very creepy and disturbing, with the genius technique of implied violence (most of the surgery isn't shown), but it's also funny. Plus it has an ending the wouldn't be too out of place in something like Tales from the Crypt, although it's bit more dramatic then Crypt, which I liked, and it's with another great monologue from a surprise performance from Genesis Rodriguez. So, what brought this down to a 3...the second half. So there's a "surprise" cameo during around the end of act 2, and it's Johnny Depp (it's not really a surprise if you're familiar with Depp) and to put it simply of how out of place this character is, well, it's like putting 20 minutes of The Pink Panther into The Human Centipede, he is that out of place, and there's another thing that makes this character hard to sit through, this is a BAD Depp performance, hands down. Of course that's not the only problem with this second half, when Depp comes in, the whole movie goes way too over the top at that point and it pisses me off because there is an amazing Horror-Comedy-Drama in all these rough points. But because of those rough points I can only give it a 3, but I find myself still liking it because of how much good it has. I recommend a rental for the curious and a buy for the brave. I think Smith has shown to be a good horror director, he just needs to tighten his scripts a bit better for his future horror films. Sorry for this long review, but I needed to really get my thoughts on this film out. Last edited by CrazyBlu-RayFan; 10-03-2015 at 06:39 AM. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() - 1st time watching. I enjoyed it enough, but I was expecting more. Not very scary. I still have a hard time understanding why Craig Scheffer never made it bigger. He is a good enough actor, and there he had some good roles. Back on topic, I am glad to finally see this and that I was not one of the fans waiting for this for 20+ years. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

(October 2nd, 2015) ![]() Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (Theatrical Cut) (Re-Watch) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (Producer's Cut) (Re-Watch) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() So yeah, I watched this back to back. The Producer's Cut is certainly the better version. I watched the theatrical cut first. Then the Producers. It's little things through out. Like extended scenes or more dialogue. But the major change is the ending really. Also the man known as Paul Rudd really does not age. Looks the same as he does today, as he did 20 years ago when it first came out. ![]() Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (Re-Watch with Adam Green and Joe Lynch Fan Commentary ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by Jennifer Lawrence Fan; 10-03-2015 at 08:28 AM. |

![]() [Show spoiler] I had a nice little double feature at my friends house. We watched both of these out back on his projector. It made for a fun change of pace. (4) 30 Days Of Night (2007) (DVD) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I am a fan of this movie and of the source material and I think they did a great job conveying the isolation, bleak circumstances and the nature of the vampires. I just wish the sequel had come to close to the original but then the situation did have a lot to do with how much I enjoyed the original. (5) An American Werewolf in London (1981) (DVD) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() A classic! just the right blend of horror and comedy. |

![]() [Show spoiler] 10/3 (6) Burnt Offering (1976) (DVD) ![]() ![]() ![]() Burnt Offering is a mildly creepy but predictable haunted house movie. The acting and atmospheric score are very good but there's no surprises here. Which, might be a bit unfair to ask when watching a 39 year old movie for the first time. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the steady progression of the haunting. And for just a second there I really thought they were going to [Show spoiler] ...just kidding.
