The Marantz cannot receive bitstreamed HD audio. If you ever wanted to upgrade to a player, you'd have to make sure it can internally decode HD audio formats and sent it out as PCM. It's nice but would be better had that ability. But then again, it's your choice.

Awesome! Thanks again guys. Now let me through one more question at you guys.

I have speakers from the HTiB that I will be using until I can upgrade them. Any suggestions knowing there might be a price crunch.

Make sure they aren't any less than 6 ohms or you may run into troubles.

That's why I prefaced it with " If you are going to stay with your PS3" the ps3 can't bitstream the new HD codecs either. So if hes going to stay PS3 he shouldn't pay for stuff he may never use. If he does get a bitstreaming standalone and he feels the need to upgrade - He can put the PS3 and the Marantz in another room. No loss, no foul, no harm done

Drive King is correct about the Ohm factor - I will also piggyback off of his sig - check it and look at the speakers he has in his signature.

The Polk package is the best budget speakers out there right now, IMO.

Why thank-you. (It's trade-marked by Driver_King Inc. Don't you think about copying my idea or else. )
