You're allowed to prefer Jurassic World all you want, just like I am allowed to think you have shit taste all I want. And the world keeps rotating...

Not really. Also it's not trolling to give a genuine opinion, thanks.

Yes, you're allowed to enjoy whatever, but if you believe this was anything else besides mindless fun, you need to re-evaluate what movie you went to see.

If you think the acting, characters, dialogue, or plot were as fleshed out as the original, I fear for humanity. I personally think anyone who thinks Owen, Claire, Gray, and Zach are as well written as Allen Grant, Ellie, Tim, and Lex either has low expectations, or that kind of thing just doesn't matter to them.

But at least we already know they were able to to both things well, in the original!

The thing that perplexes me about this franchise is how do you keep it fresh?

Dinosaurs are 65 million years old. Don't think we have to worry about expiration dates any longer.

Claire was a much more developed character than Ellie.

It was very one dimensional. Jake Loyd could've played that role with ease.

On another note, I just realized this is the Jurassic World 2 thread...lol

She undergoes a transformation in the movie, it's quite good. She goes from only caring about the bottom line to caring about the animals and the safety of other people.

I did think it was mindless fun, just a bit too mindless. I even plan to get the BD because yay dinosaurs. I just wanted it to be more than super dumb dinosaur fun, because the first film was. I don't know why this confuses people.

Also the CGI looked super fake, but that's a complaint I have with 90% of modern films so whatever.

Preferring Jurassic World to Jurassic Park or thinking the original Star Wars isn't a great movie, which is worse? I'm not sure. I think you're both evil.

You explore new concepts, take it to new places. This is what Trevorrow and co. are attempting with Jurassic World and beyond (hybrids, militarization of dinosaurs and multiple companies cloning dinosaurs which would move the action to a global scale), whether or not they succeed is up to you to decide.

Is that so strange though? I think the general view is that, with superhero franchises like Marvel, DC, etc. or something like Star Wars, there's a much bigger potential for stories to tell within those worlds. You have an entire universe with a multitude of different characters, worlds and cultures, organizations and institutions, time periods, etc. to explore. The sky's the limit.

Jurassic Park on the other hand is perceived to be a lot more limited, you have two islands populated by dinosaurs, and so far the movies have stuck to those islands and had to come up with reasons to get people there. It's much smaller in scope, with more risk for repetition if you make multiple installments. Don't get me wrong though, personally I enjoy the sequels (JPIII less so), think TLW and JW both offered something new and interesting and I think there's potential to get a lot more out of this franchise. You just have to dare to go a bit crazy with it, and JW was a good start.

The next film will be called Jurassic War.

A rival DNA-lab creates dinos to combat the dinos on Isla Nublar.

You heard it here first.

EDIT***

I'm kidding BTW!

What do these have to do with each other? If the new Star Wars movie is super dumb I'll say so there as well. I don't get it.

So I just listened to a podcast from last week with Ty Simpkins and he said there won't be weaponized dinosaurs in the sequel.

As if THAT was ever gonna happen...

I swear, one idiot Says something or Reads something on the 'Net, & it "becomes" a story.

Well that is what Hoskins was trying to accomplish in Jurassic World.

Yeah, Jurassic World sets it all up with Woo and Hoskins being on the same team and Woo escaping with embryos and a mandate to save the company. If they don't go down that route I would assume they changed their minds.
