Wow, I'm the first to say No Country for Old Men.
It had a cop out ending, because it didn't have an ending. The credits just roll. Also, Judge Dredd had one. The movie was decent up until [Show spoiler]

I have to disagree with Heat. It's one of the most satisfying endings to a movie I've ever seen. I love the fact that De Niro and Pacino only share the screen twice in the movie. The scene in which De Niro and Pacino have coffee in the diner together to explain where each one stands is brilliant and and an excellent buildup to their final scene where they have a showdown at the airport. I wouldn't change a thing about that movie. It's a masterpiece. Although Collateral is Mann's weakest film IMO, I still think he's one of the best and I have yet to see a bad Michael Mann film. I think it's atrocious that they even remade Manhunter which is a superior film to Red Dragon. Last edited by DeeChizzle; 09-17-2008 at 05:43 PM. |

NCFOM for me. I get it...it's not a country for old men, but it could have gone into more detail except just the credits. I hate movies that leave the ending for our own interpretation. WE PAID FOR THE MOVIE AND THAT'S YOUR JOB!!!

The only big discrepancy between the book and the movie is that in the book Chigurh is sitting in the parking lot watching Sheriff Bell go back to the scene of Llewellen's murder. That's the only problem i have with the movie, is that the scene between Bell and Chigurh is so open to interpretation. Was he in the room, but somehow escaped? Was he in the next hotel room waiting? Who really knows? Not sure why the Coen brothers chose to deviate from the book in that regard. Also, in the book Chigurh returns the money to the real owner.
I personally like the fact that there's never really a head to head showdown between any of the main characters. It's like the Coens/McCarthy chose to conform to several genre stereotypes and then decided to blow those preconceived ideas out of the water. Last edited by Riff Magnum; 09-19-2008 at 04:06 PM. |
