listen, i hate most of the crap that comes out in hollywood today, but there are a ton of "classics" that are way too far down on that list that were created in the late 60s, 70s, 80s and even 90s.

I feel that some really awesome movies got pushed way down on the list just because they were made more recently and if they had been made in the 30s or 40s they automatically get labeled as classics and get moved up in the list.

I mean, its absolutely ridiculous that The Shawshank Redemption isn't even in the top 500.

batman begins - 81???

oh my god they put Casion Royale AHEAD of Lawerence of Arabia! What a crock of bull.

Citizen Kane all the way down to #28.

The Dark Knight -15th Greatest movie ever. Greater than 2001! Greater than Ben Hur! Greater than Lawrence of Arabia! Greater than Casablanca HaHaHaHa! This must be a joke!

But then they redeemed themselves of most of their atrocities.

The Empire Strikes Back - #3. Yeah, its better than A New Hope, but most reviewers refuse to acknowledge that.

[Show spoiler] Godfather was #1, Raiders was #2

The list lost all credibility with me when I got to like page 5, Snatch, 12 Monkeys, The Deer Hunter, Bourne Supremacy, and FMJ are all BELOW Indiana Jones 4! Who made this list, George Lucas?!

I can understand their top10 (yeah including Raiders @ 2) except for Jaws @ 5. Thats maybe 25ish.

Neither of these movies should even be on the list!! Really?? Top 500 of all time!!! Not even close!!!

I'm going to say something that I think might get a little flack..but here goes.

Should The Dark Knight really be that high on the list? It was a great movie for sure! And in time it may deserve that spot, but it's only been in existance for a few months. When you look at some of the films that are lower on the list than this one, I think it may be a little premature to put it that high on the all time list.

I completely agree with you. 100% The Dark Knight is a very good movie, but there are issues with it for sure.

15th is just flat out absurd. Maybe, it belongs in the top 100, but thats a big maybe.

Fight Club at 10 is even worse.

They also claimed Revenge of the Sith the 4th greatest Star Wars and best of the prequels, but I didn't see RotJ on the list, maybe i missed it, but I swore I never saw it.

I'm wondering why the hell 12 Angry Men is so low on the list. That's a top 10 to 15 movie if there ever was one. I would agree that TDK isn't the 15th best movie ever. But there's lots of problems with the list. Star Wars and Indiana Jones being in the Top 3 of that list is a major problem in my opinion. Godfather II only 18th? What a load of crap. Casino Royale is really high on that list only because it's a British magazine with a British audience. Pretty ridiculous really. It's a damn good movie, but nowhere near the #56 best ever.

That might be the most laughable choice of all to be quite honest.

This list is a joke, I agree with a lot of the movies in the list, but the rankings are so backwards. How is Braveheart in the 300's, top 25 easy. I also wondered how A few good men didn't even make it and a beautiful mind. And how can they have Terminator 2 ranked so much higher then the original, are you kidding me!!! As far as comedies go, how can Caddyshack not make the list. What a joke!!!

Bah!, the list is crap. Blu-ray.com forum members should make the list! We just put together all 168,731,236,897,316,876,351,567 "what's your favorite movie" and "best movie of all time" threads together and average 'em.

Yep, this list is a hit-and-a-miss. A lot of popular titles, a lot of cult hits and high-brow films I’ve never seen before. But why oh why is “Cloverfield” up there? Why is “Evil Dead 2” higher than “The Seven Samurai”? And why am I not surprised that “The Godfather” is #1?

It's number 91.

From IMDb.

Yeah great. The 10,000 members of the public might have been the ones who voted things like “Saw” and the “Star Wars” prequels on the list. The 50 film critics probably neglected the more obscure and underrated films in favor of the prestige and art house films that I’ve never even heard of before (I guess true film snobs can dig them though). That just leaves the 150 directors, which can be a hit-and-a-miss (like, are talking about 150 directors of Spielberg’s capacity, or 150 like Uwe Boll?).

Terrible list. Way too many "New" films on this list and some classics that should be on it nowhere to be found.

Here is a head scratcher: Brian DePalma's Blow Out. Terrible terrible film in every way yet no Saturday Night Fever which was clearly a "better" Travolta film than either Grease or Blow Out. Also so many foreign films left off the list......and I wont even delve into the topic of the order that they are on this list.
