Well I have not see ONE good Hollywood remake of a foreign horror film, and the only half way decent one I have seen is The Ring. So I would go with [REC] all the way, I am seeing Quarantine only for the laughs.

oh I see what you are saying, I was just replying to REC vs Quarantine!

But idk if it will play, I saw it on ebay before as well and someone told me it wouldnt play because it was region two. So I guess I will never have REC, but usually we release the originals of the remakes when the remake comes out so in a week or two we will see!

I agree. The only Hollywood remakes I've seen that I've liked were, Night of the Living Dead, Dawn of the Dead, and Halloween, although they still aren't as good as the originals. I haven't seen Quarantine or [Rec], but I'd bet $1,000,000 that [Rec] is way better.

My Personal opinion.
I've been tracking this film since the beginning and I've seen every clip, set visit, etc possible.

This is the studio's first R remake and the people involved really went all out.

Plus the original was fantastic and last we heard, the remake remains the same.

FYI: [spoiler] text [spoiler] Make sure you place a / before the last spoiler tag.

This will hide the text and the only way to view it is to highlight it.

I have no doubts in my mind that rec will find it's way here after the theatrical run of Quarantine is done.

I'm thinking the same thing. I'm not bothering with importing REC.

It was rumored that Sony was prepping a DVD release of [REC] either for the theatrical release of Quarantine or for the inevitable home video release. Obviously it has to be the latter now and it is not too far of a stretch to think there will be a BD version day and date as well.

Edit: I would have imported [REC] as it was region free and w/english subs but it is 1080i/50 or PAL and will not play on American NTSC players like the PS3.

I had to edit my earlier post. Make sure to put [/spoiler] at the end (I forgot the /)

It took me awhile to figure it out also.

I would say [REC] was the first movie that has made me jump out of my seat in a good 10 years. The last 15 minutes of the movie were so intense, it's amazing.

It will not play on a US PS3. It will not play PAL format and it won't play anything other than region 1 DVD.

Yeah those last minutes are the most intense I have seeen in a movie as of lately, I will be really surprised if Quarantine can do the same. I have no optimism when it comes to hollywood remakes of horror films (as I guess you guys can see lol)

Yep, i have the spanish BD of REC and the video format is 1080i50. Afaik the region A PS3's have problems with that format.

Not sure if it's region locked though, some say it is, some say it's not. Several other european countries will release it later this year (like the UK or France). And i also expect it to get an US release once Quarantine is released.
