Default If you're going in to Hell and need someone to watch your back?

Kirk first and foremost. If not him, then Sisko.

Janeway - all the way.

easy, Kirk, not even close, he made the franchise. None of the others would have made it with out it. He is the perfect captain, he did not even need a number one.

who will you vote for,

Sisco: DS9 was the only series where the bar keep had more presence in the show then the captain.

Janeway: her claim to faim is getting her ship lost and losing contact with the rest of the world

Picard: He was just a figure head

First of all, anyone who votes for anyone other than the 'big two' Kirk or Picard is just being goofy. Second, I'm going with the one who didn't mind putting himself, his crew, or his ship in danger for a good adventure and the one who was on the show that overall had a better crew and way better writing, Picard. TNG, Picard all the way, suckas!!!!

I just keep seeing the scene from First Contact where Picard calls Worf a coward and stands him down. I don't remember Kirk being that badass.

Jean-Luc, then James T.

As a lifelong ST fan I can say with complete certainty that Picard is certifiably badass! And that only proves it.

I would have voted for Sulu but he wasn't put on there. The Excelsior just rawked! So I had to vote for James Kirk, he wasn't afraid to fight it out, always got the girl (and who knows how many space STDs), could out talk computers, had no regard for his superiors, and ... talked .... really funny.

Picard is a close second, but he talks too much, he needs to be more decisive.

Kirk for the reasons mentioned earlier. He kicked butt, always got the girl, wasn't politically correct and didn't cry at the drop of a hat (i.e. wasn't so sensitive).

Jean-Luc Picard was THE MAN... and still is in my opinion! He understood how to get his crew to man up to a situation. A captain should be a man who inspires his crew to act. James Tiberius Kirk, although very badass in conception, seemed to be mostly a one man show who's crew just happened to always make the choice without any reasonable reason to back up their captain's actions. Picard earned the respect of his crew. Kirk just seemed to have it because it was written that way.

James T. Kirk took the phrase “To bodly go where no man has gone before” to a whole new level.

Had her

Had her twice

Did her

Did her, and it didn’t even turn green

How do you think they got promoted?

Each one in turn, and then all together

They reproduced by eating? Yeah, right!

Seriously, I believe that this type of chauvenistic perspective belongs in the time of Henry VIII!

Jean-Luc Picard may not have been a brutal womanizer and I can understand how the neandrethal male populace would not see him as "fitting their ultimate criteria as the ULTIMATE captain of the Starship Enterprise." However, he was the exemplary speciman of what a commander-in-chief ought to be. Perhaps some political figures in seats of power (G.W.B. and future occupants of a certain house painted in, what can best be described as, a lack of colour) could do well by studying his approach of "mind over might" instead of Kirk's "fight over negotiation" techniques!!! Then maybe we would have a world that isn't on the verge of creating a military industrial complex that would have George Orwell sh!tting in his pants.

Sisko followed by Kirk. The rest don't even register on my radar.
