Would this HDD be compatible with my PS3, i know it's a 2.5" SATA laptop HDD but there may be some other factors too, so could any of you help

250 Gb Fujitsu MHX2250BT Notebook, 2.5", SATA150, 4200 rpm, 8MB Cache, 12 ms
Above is the HDD i want to use
It should work the only thing to keep in mind is the OEM drive is 5400 rpm and you'll be downgrading to 4200 rpm. Not sure if that will have any effect on how things work....I wouldn't think so but you never know...

Hmm, didn't realize that, that's a really low time. That'll affect load times of anything going to or from the hd [Saving primarily], especially for stuff thta actually needs to seek.

On the plus side, it produces less noise, less heat, and it had a bigger storage.

BTW is the cache 8mb on the original HDD? I think it is but it could be less.

But if a game relies on streaming from the harddisk, it may cause problems so I'd get a replacement drive of at least equal specs to the drive included in the PS3.

If the cache is bigger then the original HDD. It could equal out, if not, I totally agree with Shin.

I'd be inclined to check out reviews that actually tested seek time and the sustained continuous transfer rate rather than relying on manufacturer specs for anything.

True. You never know with specs. And I think it will need a good speed as the Cell eats information so fast.
