On this site, the bashers use critics as proof that a movie's bad if they pan it, and proof that critics are worthless if they praise it.

As long as they're enjoying it, there's nothing to be apprehensive about.

Why is there no fuss that they have converted 2009 to 3D?

in an interview J.J Abrams states that although no plans have been made for Chekov, due in light of the recent passing of Anton Yelchin, he is adamant that Chekov will not be re-cast.

I would say there’s no replacing him. There’s no recasting. I can’t possibly imagine that, and I think Anton deserves better.

Couldn't agree more. Besides, there are a number of.options for them and all would work well. Some are best left discussed after you've seen the film though.

They did? I recall hearing that they converted pieces of it to show to Abrams as he was skeptical to converting Into Darkness, and the converted footage convinced him to make Into Darkness 3D in post. I hadn't heard anything about the entire film being converted though...

Yeah I'm seeing the marathon on Wednesday and it says IMAX 3D, but I assumed they meant for ID and Beyond, while the 09 would just be IMAX without 3D

The address I saw said marathon in 3D but now looking a decent cinema shead some light on it

At XPlus locations, Star Trek will be presented in XPlus 2D, with Star Trek: Into Darkness and Star Trek: Beyond both in XPlus 3D

It was a 3D conversion but it wasn't done entirely in post per se.

They shot 3D passes of takes on set.

All the VFX were rendered native 3D - yes it was post, no it wasn't a conversion.

Heads up people - there's a new UK TV spot out there called "Be Ready". DO NOT WATCH IT. It contains a MAJOR spoiler for the film. I honestly can't believe they've done this so close to the film's release.
