Is my PS3 crapping out? (fan noise)

the fact is some launch consoles are noisy, by no means jet-engine Xbox 360 noisy, but noticable fan noise nonetheless.
mine is such a console, i can distinguish 3 fan speeds.
i'm a bit annoyed when someone essentially accuses me of not taking care of my PS3 because of this.
the fact is my PS3 is one of the "noisy" ones, different factory lines used different fans which may have contributed to noise discrepancies (15 blade fan, 19 blade fan) and maybe you live in a region that got it's shipments from one factory and i live in a region that got it's shipments from another, or maybe my hearing is just more acute than yours.
just because your PS3 is silent don't assume they all should be and if they're not they're being mistreated.
my PS3 has no problems, i take care of it, it's in an open space, but it also kicks into high gear often when f@h.
