Both Captain America and Wonder Woman first appeared in 1941 and both have similar origins and characteristics. That's just how it is.

I don't think they're that similar. One is an enhanced soldier, the other one is an immortal goddess from an ancient warrior race that doesn't like mankind. Diana would put Steve through the ground before he even raised his shield and she would do it effortlessly.

if that's the case, I wonder why they showed the photo of her with Steve Trevor and his soldiers from the photo dates 1918 (??).

Just because the comics premiered in 1941 doesn't mean the characters' origins are from that year. Hence the WWI prequel films.

I guess some would say WB has a lot to prove. Plus Marvel didn't release anything. So it was there time to shine.

They did though, they announced the actress that will headline their Captain Marvel franchise. Guessing they avoided Doctor Strange footage to keep it from going up against Justice League and Wonder Woman.

Uhh, they had a bunch of GOTG2 footage (not put online), a new Doctor Strange trailer (this WAS put online), and some various info about Thor 3, Spider-Man and Black Panther (not so exciting, besides the Hulk armor/weapons). I agree the DC stuff was more exciting. Especially Lego Batman.

Oh okay, must've missed the Strange trailer somehow, probably because I don't watch Comic Con. Might have to skip a Spider-Man film for the first time ever, the idea of sending him back to high school AGAIN makes me face palm so hard I almost pass out.

Let's not act like he has always been in high school in the films. He was in high school for a section of one film (the first Raimi film) and 1 full film (Amazing) and he graduated in the beginning of the sequel. When done right, Parker in high school is much better than an adult Parker. He is much more interesting.

The reason you set WW in WWI is because if any war is gonna make an optimistic, idealistic woman unfamiliar with the world realize that both sides that are fighting are at fault it's WWI, where there was no obvious good or bad side, but just death and ruin.

My guess is the story goes like this:

Steve Trevor is an American spy among the Germans. He gets discovered and makes a daring escape, but he crashes on Themyscira. He sways Diana to come with him into the world to fight on his side against the wishes of her mother. She fights against Germany, but then discovers things are not as simple as Steve indicated, hence tension between them. She inadvertently causes Themyscira to be attacked and is seen as a betrayer to her people. Diana discovers Ares (?) is behind the Great War and defeats him (kills something from "another world"), but also comes to recognize that mankind also on some level desires conflict and war. Therefore, unable to return to Themyscira she "walks away from mankind" and lives the next 100 years in secret, researching the ancient world, etc. before Doomsday.

I hope they play the trailer before Suicide Squad, would love to see this on the big screen.
I know it sounds silly, but this trailer is simply awesome.

I have no doubt some variation of this will show before Suicide Squad, it's an obvious choice and good self-promotion.

OMG! This Trailer!!!!!

I've lost count how many times I've watched this trailer and now all the youtuber's reactions to it.

Wow, how good does this movie look! OK, my doubts about Patty Jenkins have now been completely abolished. I am 100% onboard for the first ever Wonder Woman film and the greatest, most iconic female superhero ever!

DC is just killing it right now. God, I am so amazed at how great this film looks and how they have portrayed this character. It is just so spot on. I can't wait for this...so excited! Everything about it looks absolutely fantastic. I'm blown away...

I loved the trailer. The little comedic scene at the end seemed a bit forced, but other than that, everything looked great, especially the action sequences. It doesn't guarantee the film will be good, but I'm certainly looking forward to it. I think the biggest unknown at this point is how good the dramatic scenes will be

That is a masterpiece of a trailer. Awesome. I knew I am going to like the movie, but was not really sure what's to expect. But after this trailer I am expecting a huge movie. Yes there might be similarities to Captain America. I don't care. I never was into the good old discussion which publisher is better, I am a hippie of comics. I love them just all....

What do you mean. 75% of Marvel movie scenes are just like that.
