It all depends on the money you want to spend. The 6100 is a great bargain, and speakers can always be upgraded later if you desire. The Klipsch route would be superior, but its also twice the money. For some reason Onkyo likes to post different specs on the HTIB receivers than what they list on the separately sold receiver, but I'm pretty sure they're identical. I think its mostly a marketing strategy to make their HTIB specs comparable to the competition since Pioneer, Samsung, and others all sell HTIB's boasting 1000 watts or more total power. My 605 puts out 90 watts per channel RMS, but the manual gives much higher wattage in various scenarios. On a side note, are you sure your sub's amp is dead? Did you try replacing the fuse? Just a thought. By the way, I love my Harman Kardon speaker package! The sound is very clear and detailed, and the sub is great. Their speaker packages are a very good value, especially if you are in the market for satellite speakers.
