It's really sad what A-Rod's career has become over the last 5+ years. Despite his flaws abusing the system, he was once a young prospect with huge potential, and his days with Seattle, Texas, and New York were always entertaining whether you loved him or hated him. He finally got that championship ring he always strived for, but you know that the HR crown was what he really wanted and what many of the fans out there expected of him by the time he called it a career. In his prime, he was on track to surpass the all-time greats and one day, possibly dethrone Bonds. With the injuries, playoff no-shows, controversies, suspensions, and plain old decline in batting percentage, whatever chance Rodriguez had of making history started to fade away, and here we are now with Yankees basically forced to relieve Alex of his player duties.

Could he possibly sign with a team in the future for way less money, so that he can at least reach 700 HRs? Sure. But I feel his days of passing Ruth, Aaron, and Bonds are behind him now. Whatever his future may hold, I'm still glad he provided the Yankees organization with more star power and some great moments since his arrival in 2004, his playoff redemption in 2009 on route to winning his first and only World Series being the major standout for me.

It's been a rocky path for A-Rod in NY, but I thank him for his contributions to both to the game and the organization.

I'll ask here as you mainly see them in the baseball world: Bobbleheads!

Do you collect them? Who do you have?

I try to go to local games when they have bobblehead nights. I have been to a few games where I missed out and then later purchased that same bobblehead off of Ebay.

I'm thinking of creating a website dedicated for bobblehead collectors. I would try to incorporate every single game from every league in a given year with the bobblehead info.

I don't care about bobbleheads. Never saw their appeal. I could see how collecting bobbleheads of yesteryear would have interest, but is anyone dying to get their hands on a Gerardo Parra or Steve Cishek bobblehead?

It probably doesn't help that the baseball fans here seem more interested in bobbleheads first, actual baseball second.

Prince Fielder is set to announce his retirement tomorrow due to neck injuries. He'll still make over $24 million per year through 2020, with the Rangers paying $18 million per year and the Tigers covering $6 million. It's unknown if the contract is insured.

Edit: According to reports the contract is insured so insurance will pay $9 million, the Rangers will pay $9 million, and the Tigers will pay $6 million.

This is like Albert Belle. Since he's not technically "retiring," he gets the rest of his contract. It's being reported that $9 million of this year's salary is insured, but nothing about the remaining years.

One of the MLB's worst big contracts ever.

I still shake my head at the Rangers taking this contract. It was doomed to failure from the beginning.

Still sucks to see a guy be forced out of a game he clearly loves.
