I don't know, I thought there was quite a bit of saturation marketing on late night TV programming. I know I saw about three different trailers by the time the movie came out and it was clear that the vibe of the movie was classic Shane Black style buddy action comedy, which definitely got my nostalgia juices flowing. I guess there just weren't enough middle-aged men who were able to drag their wives to this to make it a major hit.
