I'd probably favour a download over a BD-R. |

The issue for me is I really wouldn't want to actively encourage BD-Rs by purchasing them. Can't get behind it at all.
And I hate the idea of spending significantly more on something that's probably not going to last. |

Can you copy and past a file on a BD-r directly or do they still use copy protection? If I could easily backup the movie file legally without breaking the DMCA then I would consider a BR-r purchase. Otherwise concerns about the disc lasting would push me to just finally import the Australian or French release.

I can respect this stance, however, it seems like paying for streaming or a download would do even more harm to the production of future blu-rays than buying a BD-R would. I guess import would be the best option.

As soon as I got it and put it in the player, I could tell it was a very old master with EE, contrast boosting and unnaturally warm colors. Doesn't help that the compression was also poor, it looked like a file downloaded off of iTunes. I then shelled out for the US disc because I could tell it looked much better by screenshots alone. The US disc looks stunning, is from a brand new 4K remaster, has much better colors and doesn't have EE. The Australian disc also has a lot of scratches and dirt on the opening titles which was cleaned up for the remaster. |

Likewise. I was hoping SONY would adopt their 'Christine' policy, following the TT release with an official pressed version of their own after the exclusivity expired. Never expected this on-the-cheap alternative, which is no alternative at all. Are there any region free options, as yet? |

It might be locked according to someone who posted in the region coding section of the db entry. I don't know if they truly tested it though. Both Pro-B and DVD Beaver say it's regiom free.
