I'll bite only if we get new transfers for the first three.

I'm thinking I'm gonna grab this since I don't have any of them. Any word on the price yet? Last time I checked, it was only announced.

I find it a bit disappointing thay something as frivolous as a black and white version of Fury Road can come out but we have yet to see an edition of Beyond Thunderdome with any extras whatsoever. Even just the deleted scenes would be nice. It's just a shame that the best and most accomplished ( In my opinion, at least ) film has been given cosistently awful treatment by Warner.

I definitely agree that Beyond Thunderdome deserves a nice special edition packed with extras and a sparkly new transfer. That said... I don't how anyone could call it the best and most accomplished film in a series that includes both The Road Warrior and Fury Road. Oh well - as the late great Dalton once said:

Once again...

The German set states a 45min documentary on Thunderdome is included. It is not listed on the US press release but it wouldn't make sense for Warner to drop a special feature if everything matches.

As for new transfers: Mad Max is definitely not new since MGM is providing it and its 99.9% going to be the MGM disc we already know and love. The press release also does not mention this so maybe but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Absolutely, I love Beyond Thunderdome and dearly would like extras. Sadly George's heart wasn't really in that one so it seems doubtful we'll get anything from him.

It's a fan-made trailer. It's not official. The real version will look different.

I was actually bored out of my mind watching Mad Max 2 believe it or not. I watched the first three movies one after the other when I saw them for the first time and while Mad Max was pretty much what I was expecting from a low budget revenge film, I didn't get invested in Mad Max 2 at all. My problem with Mad Max 2, put simply, is that everyone is a great big jerk with little personality to me, and I didn't really care about any of the characters, so the admittedly well-made action sequences fell flat for me due to lack of emotional investment.

Thunderdome I felt was actually a darker and more intricate film than the others. In all the other Mad Max movies there is pretty clearly a good/bad guy who is right/wrong. In Thunderdome the morality isn't ao black and white and I love that. It's about doing what you feel is right or doing what you feel is practical and I think it works wonderfully.

Fury Road to me was like a version of Mad Max 2 where I actually cared about the characters and I quite liked it. Just not as much as Thunderdome.

But hey, I can totally understand why most people like Mad Max 2 and Fury Road over Thunderdome.

What worries me there is that the running time for the making-of should be 52 minutes, and shortened versions are already out there on the internet.

I honesty have no idea what to think. I hope we get a trailer or something soon, so we can see it for ourselves.
That "Poster" he posted on Twitter isn't unreleased. It was in the inside of the Best Buy Steelbook. In fact that picture he posted looks like a simply took a picture of the inside of the steelbook and put a filter on it.

I wouldn't say Thunderdome is the best movie but it does feel perhaps the most like a big studio Summer movie. Well, at least until Fury Road. Road Warrior feels like an amazingly well done grindhouse movie in a lot of ways. I actually prefer Thunderdome myself, but then I go super crazy and say my favorite is the original.

The original Mad Max is my favorite too. Just a raw, dirty, crazy movie.

Definitely, although I'd argue that it feels more like a big studio summer movie than even Fury Road, but that might just be because of the Tina Turner song. Between the music video and the huge amount of airplay it got on radio, you couldn't avoid that freaking song. Not that I didn't like it, but I think that plays a part in my perception of the film.

I go back and forth between Road Warrior and Fury Road, but I love them both. Thunderdome tends to lose me right after the fight between Max and Master Blaster. I just never really liked any of the bits with the kids and it just drags down the film for me. The original is great, but I loves me some RW and FR.

I will say this... having not been around back when Tina Turner was all that popular, I never once felt like she was just an inclusion for commercial reasons only. I thought she put in a very good performance. I think perhaps that those who did experience the time when she was very popular probably feel that her presence gives it a dated 80s edge, but I never really felt that.

My guess is that the original Mad Max in this set is going to be the MGM disc again, unless the US rights have been transferred to Warner and that will have their European disc.

MGM, otherwise the Scream Factory release would go out of print.

Most likely it would be the MGM disc again, but stranger things have happened. The Player, a Warner/New Line title for example, had home video rights transferred to a different company called Rehab to licence to Criterion, yet Warner supposedly still owns US streaming and the rest of the rights are said to be split between Paramount (owners of Spelling) and Lionsgate (owners of Avenue Pictures, co-distributor with Fine Line).

Sorry for going off topic, copyrights can sometimes be a mess.

Characterisations in Mad Max 2 are freakin brilliant. Lean and mean, no fat. Simiular formula carried over to Fury Road. The characters of the little town were very well done. The relationship/friction depicted between Pappagallo and Max was very well done, and quite powerful and even deep.

Max's character in MM2 is very complex.

Not sure what film you watched...
