For those of you that are younger, or perhaps just don't appear to know, Stanley & Iris is a sweet little love story with Robert DeNiro, and Jane Fonda.

THE MAD MAGICIAN 3D (1954) BLU-RAY - Jan 17th
Includes: Pardon My Backfire 3D (1953) and Spooks 3D (1953)

Calling all lamebrains and knuckleheads.....Eye-pokes comin' at ya in 3D! Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk

Stooges enter the Twilight Time collection. Happy days are ahead, folks.

January and February is one of the best announcement slates yet. There are some incredible and highly enjoyable films on that list.

For all you "meh" and naysayers, debbie downers and sad sallys, unadventurous types unwilling to explore the unknown or the unheard of, sad sacks who can't embrace the opportunity to discover something new, all you dull types who have yet to find Rapture in your lives, I say this to you....... *poke* *slap* *bonk*. Let your inner Stooge run free!

EDGE OF ETERNITY (1959) BLU-RAY - Feb 14th

None of these are day one for me, but I'll be picking up at least all of the above eventually. Echo other posters' comments about Edge of Eternity... haven't seen it, but Don Siegel shooting a thriller on location in the Grand Canyon? I'm in.

As I recall the 3D blu-ray spec must include a 2D version, at least in the US

I'm definitely in for INTERIORS and THE MAD MAGICIAN. Didn't know those shorts are The 3 Stooges - very cool!!!

I've seen CHILLY SCENES OF WINTER a few times over many years, because I can never remember anything about it and assume I've never seen it, but then realize I have seen it before halfway through. And now, once again, I still can't remember a thing about it, except for the cast.

Kiss of Death and Two for the Road are the ones that really jump out at me, and I'll definitely be buying them on the day of.

I'm also, however, intent on buying The Mad Magician, because it's a Vincent Price film, and Edge of Eternity, because it's a Don Siegel film.

When asked about why only 4 titles per month, Redman responded on Facebook:

Twilight Time Movies: We think you will see all of the labels scaling back next year.

Twilight Time Movies: The market is saturated - sales down across the board for everyone concerned.

I'm breathing a sigh of relief, in terms of how this will affect the wallet. During the past few months, the awesomeness of the Blu-ray releases from all labels has made it impossible to keep pace.

This may help my resolution to apply the brakes somewhat to new purchases next year in order to catch up on my massive still-unwatched stack.

I know I'm way beyond the saturated point. Closing in on way beyond ridiculous, if I'm not already there.

I've got some older Twilight Time titles that are still in my unwatched stack. I'll get around to watching The Story of Adèle H., Lilies of the Field, Guess Who's Coming to Dinner, and all of the others soon. I promise.

I caught up on a few of them when I dedicated the month of July to watching western movies from my collection, but there are still so many that I need to catch up on.

The indy labels have been releasing such an absurd amount of great titles the last couple years that it's almost too much to keep up with. A few less titles per month is no big deal. In fact, it's probably a good thing for some of us serious collectors. There's like 15 indy labels releasing a lot of good stuff right now. It can be dizzying trying to keep up at times.

The Jan./Feb. titles from TT look pretty solid. "Kiss of Death" and "Two for the Road" are both excellent. "The Mad Magician" looks like a fun Price film and "Edge of Eternity" looks promising. "Interiors", while super depressing, is an excellent homage to Bergman by Woody Allen. I wonder how many Woody titles TT still has yet to release. I think they said 7 about a year ago. Since then, I believe they've released "Shadows and Fog", "Zelig", "Stardust Memories", and "Interiors". So 3 I think. Maybe "Bananas", "Everything You Wanted to Know About Sex", and one of his late 80s dramas like "September" or "Another Woman". I may be off on those numbers though.

It's good that there's so much being released by the indie/boutique labels, but with them competing for the same limited customer base, it's been hell... I've spent so much this month on 3 TT preorders, 3 Kino Lorber releases for next week, 3 Shout/Scream releases, 1 Olive Signature release, 2 Lionsgate catalog releases, a Warner Archive title, and another 4 Criterions when they finally have their flash sale... and November is looking even worse! Keep releasing these catalog and deep catalog titles, but no complaints here about spreading them out a bit!

There's a lot being released but I doubt most are picking up the majority, if not all, of the releases. It's nice that a lot more is being released because there's a good selection for everyone.

With TT cutting back I might have to wait longer for Panic Room, Alien Nation, and Screamers. On the other hand, maybe Powerhouse Films will end up releasing them first.

Either way, someone needs to make a deal to release some of the earlier Dreamworks releases.

I know I'm tapped out now. With the Twilight Time 7 for 70 sale, all of the great titles Scream / Shout have been releasing, the Hammer Horror collections, a few of the Criterions that have been brought out recently, I'm scaling back my purchases for a little while. Still, there are TONS of great titles that are still awaiting a blu-ray release so I hope they don't scale things back too much.

i can't go over how many sales happened this year. maybe has something to do with all that extra inventory. really every label knocked it out of the park, as far as i'm concerned.

but less is more...4 titles a month from everyone would really be nice for wallets.

I feel you guys for sure but the thing that scares me or keeps me spending money is the dreadful OOP possibilities that loom over these titles from Criterion, Scream/Shout, TT, Arrow

Happens in all forms of entertainment. I dragged my feet for 4 years over the Steven Wilson remix of Jethro Tull's Thick As A Brick, and now had to pay $89.00 for the 2 disc set, long OOP.
You can bet I bought all the missing Wilson / Tull titles before I went to bed this morning !!!

I'm excited about THE MAD MAGICIAN, EDGE OF ETERNITY, and CHILLY SCENES OF WINTER.

Regarding CHILLY, I hope that the original theatrical version (under the title HEAD OVER HEELS) will be included, possibly via seamless branching.

If that isn't possible, I'd like to see the original ending presented as a supplement. No spoilers, but the original ending is thematically different from the subsequent CHILLY edition of the film.

Trying new things and exploring movies you never heard of is all fine and good, but not at $35 a pop!
