Yep that replica is well made for sure. But did you notice how the web it is dangling from is not curved at all ? that monster must weigh almost a pound if not more and the web is looking as though nothing heavier than a gnat is on it.

Unsure whether it's real, but still disturbing. Reminds me of when my sister showed my internet pics of a praying mantis eating a hummingbird

This is probably a reflection of the large size of much of the prey they capture, for even the remains of birds have been recorded in their webs (Raven 2000).

Add the fact that really big spiders don't live on spiderwebs but in holes (they are too heavy for a web)

Also there is no mention of the spider's size ...

Oh and also if it was real they would have made a video of it instead of photos but of course plastic cannot move ...
Actually, this spider may not be as fake as people think. The pictures have made the rounds overseas and one paper has all but declared them authentic. Plus, this is actually the second spider to eat a bird.

Plus, did anyone catch AFV Sunday night? They had a video of a guy trying to catch one monster spider crawling on his wall.

Also the bird is a finch. You know, those little annoying birds they sell in Petsmart. I don't know there scientific name, but here in Florida we have one called a Banana Spider that looks real similar to it. I had one a couple of years ago build it's web across my driveway. It was as big as my hand.

That would only be an option for me if the bat was 30ft long!!

If something like that took up residence in my back yard I would never leave my house.

There's no easy way of getting scale from the pics.

The article says the bird is a Chestnut-breasted Mannikin, which according to that page is 10-12cm (about the size of your palm). So the spider isn't as big as the pics make it look.
