That's a pretty good find since the Australian 1 disc version is also out of print. If you can also find the harder to get 2 disc version for around the same price make sure you pick it up for the exclusive Aussie extra that's not on any other release. It's a one hour Q and A with Romero at a film festival in 2008. Then just sell of the one disc set for a nice profit, or you could donate it to a library or friend.

I just checked tracking and it has been with customs for a week now waiting to be passed to Fastway for delivery. I contacted Amazon and they said they would sort it.

Got my copy today from Diabolik. Won't get a chance to watch it for a while. No BD drive or player.

Just wanted to comment on the horrendous case. A piece of plastic was broken so one of the trays is just flopping around now. It's really a pain to close it with all the stuff inside. I'm gonna have to get a new, different case.

I got my copy today of the 4k version and have the same issue with the broken piece. Not really a fan of this case design.

I also received my copy today with the broken case. The case isn't as bad as how the 4K disc looks. Atrocious.

This has to be one of the most "OMG CAN'T WAIT" to "OMG SO TERRIBLE" neck-snap releases I have ever seen.

It's more the giddy anticipation of it being punctured by reality as swiftly as a kick in the knackers. It's not the world's worst release or anything, just disappointingly mediocre and it still leaves us wondering what might've been. Mine's already gone.

I sold mine on, didnt loose any money on it. Will just keep the Anchor Bay Ultimate Edition DVD set, until the eventual US or UK release appears.

Seriously. Has there EVER been an Italian-exclusive release of an international film that was good?

The Italian BD of A Fistful Of Dollars is pretty good.

Imo the best way to go with DOTD at the moment is the Anchor Bay BD + The Ultimate Edition DVD.

Sure the Anchor Bay BD has a bit more DNR than the Arrow release but it's presented in its OAR and it has the original mono audio which gives it a slight edge. But lets face it, neither BD is great.

I must say though, the Ultimate Edition DVD is a thing of beauty. Absolutely gorgeous packaging.

Yeah, I watched the Euro cut and the Argento cut the other day and they couldn't be more farther apart in terms of picture quality. The Euro cut is a smudgy, odd-color mess and who could forget to mention the pulsating picture that comes and goes throughout the film. The Argento cut is too bright, but has more defined detail and the better of the two cuts, but that's not saying much. I haven't watched the open-matte theatrical version, so I have no opinion on that right now.

Overall, I am very disappointed in this release. According to the information given in the booklet and the video interviews on the discs, they all pat themselves on the back for creating this new 4K scan, but it's not even close to being perfect. Where and how could it have gone so wrong is my question.

Yeah, I still watch discs from that set at least once a year. It's definitely one of the very best releases I own, DVD or Blu-Ray. I have the Aussie blu-ray if I want to just watch the theatrical version, and I can live without having the rest in HD for now. I would like to see the fullframe version from the new set, but I don't think I care enough to buy the whole thing just for an extra.

Apparently there's issues with the full frame versions as well from what I've read.

So glad I spent the money I was saving for this release to get a copy of the Ultimate Edition for under 40.

Yes, the 4K case is a pain in the butt and if you are not careful it's easy to damage it. It also make the set "feel" cheap as well. It would have been better if it was a Digipak, or at least 2-3 fancy cases (black coloured?) to house the discs.

I have the anchor bay dvd... Is the anchor bay blu ray worth 40 bucks in that case? Is the picture quality that much better?
