If somebody can debate this and can prove the reliability of a plasma without buttering up the facts AND say the picture is worth it, I will be happy to purchase a plasma as my next TV. I'm just not convinced otherwise.

Please stop spreading misinformation. Plasmas and LCDs have similar repair rates. See the article below that summarizes Consumer Reports surveys of over 93K sets. In summary, both technologies averaged ~3% failure rate with Pasasonic leading the pack (both LCD and plasma) at 2%.
