That's the version I saw in the theater back in 1984. Probably the same one as you, as I too remember "Sexcrime" being played as house music (I thought they played it before the movie, but I'm guessing that's just my faulty memory).

The song Sexcrime does play during the movie, but it's a heavily modified, mostly instrumental remix so that there would be no singing mixing with the dialogue. It's just before the 1-hour mark when Winston is telling Julia about his dream about his mother.

When I saw it in the theater, "Sexcrime" played to a black screen before the movie started

The trailer on TT's Blu is different than the trailer on the old MGM DVD.
The trailer on the TT release is definitely the US theatrical trailer from Atlantic Releasing (it opens with their logo) and features the vocal-song "Sexcrime" throughout it, even in one quick shot of children to make it appear as if they were actually singing the song, maybe to make it look similar to "Pink Floyd The Wall". Crazy marketing! The trailer on the old MGM DVD is probably a trailer made for the UK theatrical release. No Eurythmics music, and although some footage is cut together the same exact way as in the US trailer, it's all much more morose and there's a different more sullen narrator, who even mentions Michael Radford and Cyril Cusack, two names that the US distributor would never have mentioned at the time. Completely different title fonts as well. |

This is a magnificent presentation of the film. I am incredibly happy with this release.
My only nitpick is Julia Kirgo's notes, which indicate that she is either a member (or wannabe member) of the corrupt party elite, or a brainwashed lower part member. |

I have the German disc and watched it a couple of weeks ago. I imagine it looks extremely similar if not essentially identical to the TT disc. No problems I saw to note.

Probably saw the news of the book being a top seller again in light of current events

Bah! They should have made the price $19.84 - but yeah, totally blatant.

Was this always cheaper at SAE, or were SAE and TT selling it for the same price at the time it was initially released?
