Although I like the show myself, I was not planning to get it, but at this price it's a steal I couldn't pass up.

Anyone know if they are releasing a season 2.0? Or will there just be Complete Season 2 and no half-releases?

I would think they will wait till after the last 10 episodes air and just release a full season set.

They probably would have done so by now, considering the second half of the season is currently airing.

Well I would like it on blu, but it's not like the DVD version is unwatchable or something. I'll wait awhile before getting the DVD to make sure it's not released on blu later.

Quite a bit more expensive, but if it's the only way to get Season 2, then I'll do it

Well if it's coming to blu in the UK, then I'm sure it will in the US sometime.

Not necessarily, Fox has released stuff overseas and not released it in the U.S., even though they own full rights here. The show was canceled and I imagine sales were poor for the first season on BD, not a surprise Fox might scuttle a release. It may not even be worth it to them to manufacture a token run in the U.S.

The show's going to end on a cliffhanger with no hope for a movie in sight... makes me not want to watch the last episode...

Hopefully that actually WILL be released and it's not just a placeholder... I have been holding off watching Season 2 to wait for the Blu-ray... I will be gutted if they decide it's not worth releasing

Having just watched the final episode, a couple of things can be confirmed. There really isn't a huge cliffhanger, it is clear the writers knew a cancellation was imminent and wrote the final episode of season two as a series finale.

Secondly, a commercial for the DVD set during the premiere broadcast on SyFy confirmed there will be no Blu-ray release for season two. The commercial shows the extra features and then runs a coda at the end, saying "the complete final season only available on DVD." That still does not preclude a European release, but we now know there will not be an American Blu-ray release.

Not now, but maybe eventually, some time later. I can wait.

That's not what the writers have been saying...

Quote:
I was surprised because I honestly thought we’d be back. Several individuals either strongly hinted or outright assured us as much (scenarios included returning with a lower budget and/or the understanding that it would be our final season). And so, rather than bemoan the show’s fate, I looked forward to the opportunity to go that third and final season where we would be afforded the opportunity to wrap up our story in spectacular fashion. We started discussing potential scenarios, character developments…

And then we received word that we had been cancelled. End of discussion. We were done.

I know about what the writers had been saying, but the entire episode was written to act as a goodbye to the show. The writers knew the ratings going into production and probably saw the writing on the wall.

No way. The episode was an awesome season finale, but it clearly was never intended to be the end of the series, it really didn't wrap anything up at all. And if you read the quote I posted, you'd see that the writers were fully expecting to get (at least) one more season with which to finish the series.

EDIT: One more thing; the writers couldn't possibly have known what the ratings would be when they wrote this episode, it was written something like a year ago if not more.

EDIT: Hey, look at this... Seems you were right after all, to a certain extent at least.

After loving the movie, couldn't get into SG1 and never watched it, loved Atlantis and loved Universe, I finally picked up Atlantis on Blu-ray a while ago, and just started re-watching it for the first time. After I finish the Atlantis re-watch, Universe will be next on the re-watch... and boy does it suck to know that at the end of this glorious scifi Blu-ray experience, the last season of Stargate, Stargate Universe Season 2, is only on DVD

I guess it's on iTunes in HD, but I sure don't want to pay a ridiculous price (in Canada) for crappy iTunes quality.

This really needs to be on Blu-ray. I mean, hello, seaQuest is on Blu-ray! What do we have to do to get this released?! I'm still holding out hope that an international release will happen.

Give SG1 another try. It's great.

And where is Sea Quest on blu-ray?

Season 1 was released in Australia, and then all 3 seasons were released in Germany.
