It really depends on whether or not you want to send audio out to your receiver via HDMI or analog. If you wanted analog, I'd say it's a worthy upgrade for your setup.

As for earlier posts, I currently own a PS3 and I want a BD55. The PS3 is faster now, but there are reasons already mentioned to get the standalone, instead. Not to mention, I'm not a gamer and I don't want a gaming system.

thanks, I do have HDMI connected currently. HDMI is better than analog - correct?

yep....

unless your receiver doesn't support HD thru HDMI

I see that I have the same Onkyo 705 as you do so am I safe to assume that it does support HD thru HDMI?
