Default Blu-ray "superbit?"

oka so sony says a super bit dvd is a dvd with bit rate twice that of its normal 1 so rite away we can exclude any blu-rays with a video bitrate of over 20 mbs and any audio that over 4 mbs

or would sony just relase 1 version of the movie on blu-ray and forget about making an inferior 1 fist

All of Sonys recent releases are high bit avc encodes. Don't know if it would make much difference to double what they are already doing.

These people who want Blu Ray Superbit are not thinking it through. You probably could not get better video. If they did Superbit versions of BR movies there would probably be 10 or so gigs (don't quote me on this) unused. The people who want Superbit BR are not looking closely enough at the specs the audio on Sony Blu Ray's are all uncompressed PCM meaning your getting a bit for bit studio master of the audio on the Blu Ray now. I don't have a Blu Ray player but from what I have heard there are putting out disks with some of the best video transfers. How much better do people think Blu Ray disks are going to get? The reason why Sony did Superbit on DVD in the first place was to get was to get better video and audio transfers (DTS) on the disks. With DVD, Sony only had approximatly 4.7 gigs of space to work with, on Blu Ray they have recently had 50 gigs to work with. Blu Ray Superbit give it up already!

They had 8.2GB to work with. DVD-9 has been standard release format since 1999 at least.

Superbit was more of a gimmick than anything. The only SB I own are stuff like Lawrence(new transfer, greatly reduced EE, proper color timing) and Das Boot(2 DVD-9s instead of 1 DVD-10), that were majorlly improved over the standard DVD
