I'd love all 4 of those. White Sands is one that doesn't get mentioned much, but I enjoy a Lot. I'd love to upgrade and get rid of my dvd

My reaction to your collection(go to the 17 second mark) :

That's it! I've made up my mind. I'm finally going to pull the trigger and blind buy Lifeforce. I hate blind buying and am a little scared because of all of the mixed things I've heard about this film but I am going for it. There's enough in it that it sounds like it would be right up my alley.......mainly all of the naked vampire chicks

Last night, I watched my Scream Factory Blu-ray of The Screaming Skull.

In this old-school horror movie, the sexy Peggy Webber plays Jenni, a woman with a traumatic past who moves into an eerie country home owned by her new husband, Eric, who is played by John Hudson (Gunfight at the O.K. Corral). From the start, Jenni is affected by the stories of Eric's first wife, who died tragically at the home years before, she hears frightening screams at night, and she even encounters a human skull in the home. Is she being plagued by truly supernatural phenomena, is she being tormented by the gardener of the estate, who had a strong friendship with the former wife, or is something else at play?

At 68 minutes, The Screaming Skull flies by at a lightning pace, and, while it comes across as quaint by today's standards, I enjoyed the storyline, which seems to have been influenced quite a bit by the 1944 film, Gaslight, I enjoyed the genuinely spooky camerawork during pivotal scenes, and I enjoyed the atmosphere of the house setting. This is a good little film.

The Screaming Skull was released in theaters with a disclaimer that anyone who died of fright during the movie would be provided a free burial. To the best of my knowledge, nobody died while watching the film. As I grow older and inevitably lose health in decades to come, though, it might not be a bad idea to keep the Blu-ray next to my television set so that, in the event of a heart attack or a death from old age, my relatives can claim that this film is responsible and, as such, force the studio to make good on its disclaimer so that they can save expenses.

This Scream Factory Blu-ray looks fantastic, with a naturally filmic appearance and an impressive presentation of the nighttime images. There's a bit of print damage, but, for the most part, this public domain flick shines on Blu-ray.

I decided to go to sleep early last night instead of watching the bonus feature interviews and the Mystery Science Theater 3000 episode that features the film. It's probably just as well, because I'm glad that I was able to take in the movie on its own terms instead of watching it picked apart by ridicule immediately after the fact. I'll watch the extras tonight, though.
Right now, I'm watching the Mystery Science Theater 3000 episode extra on The Screaming Skull disc.

With all due apologies and respect for fans of this comedy show, this Mystery Science Theater 3000 episode comes across as even more cloyingly quaint than the movie itself.

Last night, I was genuinely engaged in the actual feature film, but, right now, I'm pretty much rolling my eyes in boredom at the Mystery Science commentary. There have been a couple of decent laughs, but that's it. At its worst, Mystery Science Theater 3000 is like watching a movie with a couple of obnoxious drunk people when I am sober. This particular episode is definitely an example of the show at its worst.

The interview supplementary is pretty awesome, though.

Buy this fine Blu-ray for the feature film itself, not for the Mystery Science episode.

I love Lifeforce. It's a fast-paced movie with cool special effects before the age of computers, and Mathilda May's space vampire is one of the classiest women in the history of cinema. It's just great 1980s fun all around.

It's a weird movie but 80's genre fans tend to like it a good bit. It's too crazy not to. Note that if you're region-free the UK disc is better, but the Scream is fine.

Yeah I actually heard about the Arrow release but found out it wasn't region free and I'm not. Is the PQ a lot better? The review on this site gave Scream Factory's a pretty high score for the transfer.

Honestly, Lifeforce is not my favorite "crazy period" Tobe Hooper film.

I much prefer Spontaneous Combustion (which has been released on blu-ray via Code Red).

1) Drool.

2) I LOVE that the only Vestron title you appear to have (apologies if I'm wrong) is CHUD II, which is the one most of us have avoided picking up even at the $15 mark. It's like a massive "f*ck you" to all of us out there missing that single, solitary spine number. Fantastic.

Who thinks Ben and Willard will look better than any bootleg DVD fans held on to?

Not a fan of the art, think they'd have been better off going with the original poster art or the previous Scream artwork. Can't say I'm interested in any case. More re-releases to potentially fill out the schedule each month doesn't fill me with much hope for the future of the line. Hopefully they're few and far between (though if they're successful, I only see more on the horizon)
The ART is crappy!

Hah, yes, the price point is the factor there. Really, really want Waxwork I/II and The Gate, but I've been holding off

You did guilt trip me into picking up White Worm though

I know that they look better, because I own both of them. The 4K restoration of Willard is better than anything that I ever expected in my wildest dreams, and I never imagined that those rats would look so detailed. The print source Blu-ray of Ben is flawed, but still better looking than anything else available out there.

These two Blu-rays are both outstanding, in terms of what Scream Factory has done to bring them to the public with the best presentations possible, and there is no excuse for every home not to have them.

The Arrow has better compression but in motion it's probably not night and day or anything. The Arrow also has an hour+ documentary on the movie though.

What what say what? No excuse.

Just kidding, of course. Your mileage may vary when it comes to these two fine examples of cinema. I had a great time watching the Blu-rays last weekend, though.
