As far as I'm concerned, the Indicator Blu-ray is the definitive release of The Lady from Shanghai. The picture quality is stunning, the extras are spot-on (even the ones that were ported over), and the whole package is flawless.

Rita Hayworth is just gorgeous in this movie, and the camera adores her. I'm well aware of the fact that, before she emerged in the movie business, Hayworth looked nothing like she does onscreen, and that she had to deal with some rather horrid makeover hours over a stretch of years, but the illusion here is wondrous. This is Rita Hayworth at her lovely best.

The "House of Mirrors" shootout at the end is one of my favorite moments in cinema.

The Lady from Shanghai is far from a perfect movie, and the pacing hits a speedbump by way of a court hearing sequence, but it is still one of my favorite films noir, all things considered, and it has my highest recommendation.
Does The Lady From Shanghai Indicator Blu-ray have English sub-titles? I didn't see any indication on the web site and I'll stick with my Mill Creek release if it doesn't.

I looked at their web site and honestly missed • New and improved English subtitles for the deaf and hard-of-hearing Guess I'm blind too. Thank you for the help (Did you really need to be so condescending though?) Thanks anyway, I will be ordering this.

Already answered above, but the subtitles are there, because I revisited the movie with them on.

The Indicator Blu-ray of The Lady from Shanghai is the full meal deal, and it is a perfect package for this film.

Thanks for the recommendation. I already have two versions on BD, but based upon your review and DVDBeaver's, I ordered it. $20 shipped to the US is a pretty good deal. The other versions will be donated.

Any other opinions about "Pool of London"?
Like mentioned above, it's noir galore (and a very good one!) , and should be added to the op.

I have an order in for it from AMZ UK, but who knows when it is going to ship.

I thought it was only average, but I haven't watched it in a couple of years, so I might revisit it. Bonar Colleano is the kind of actor I can only stomach in small doses.

Why?
It must have been the first movie i saw him in, but i found his acting very good and quite believable, although Earl Cameron totally steals the show imo,

Just his loudmouth wisecracking style I find grating, and he sticks out like a sore thumb in British films. That said, he was really good with a major role in Eight Iron Men, and flimsy as it is, Sleeping Car to Trieste is a guilty pleasure.

Good luck with that! I STILL never got my copies of The Big Heat or Body Double. the Big Heat is now 3 weeks late and I've kind of given up hope at this point, especially since my copy of Fright Night has come which was supposed to be delivered after either of those.

Looks like I'll be throwing that in the cart when I placed an order with Amazon UK sometime in the near future...

It's been a little while since I've watched a film noir, but I finally watched Murder, My Sweet today. I enjoyed it more than most of the films I've watched in the last few months. I think the site overrated the PQ a tad, but I'm very happy owning the film regardless.

The Prowler (1951) is showing on Turner Classic Movies now, so hurry!

Such an underrated noir.

I'm patiently holding out for a TT sale. Top-shelf noir.

I think I read that the PQ on the UK release isn't quite as strong as TT's. Can anybody confirm?

Good heavens, no it's not. I wish people would stop worrying whether or not movies like The Big Knife, or Sunset Blvd., or whatever qualify as "film noir" and just focus on how awesome such flicks are.

Being the OP, It is my job in this thread to determine what gets added the list, and what doesn't

The Big Knife may not hit all of the stops on the Dark City blueprint, but I'm comfortable classifying it as a film noir. It's a talky melodrama, but it also lands on the noir dartboard in the same way that many other "noir-stained" melodramas that are already included in this thread do.

It is listed on the Internet Movie Database as a film noir, and it is also prominently mentioned in several other noir circles online.

I revisited The Prowler on TCM this morning while I was at my parents' for Mother's Day, and we were joined by my brother and his family. I was reminded of how awesome this particular noir entry is on all accounts.

My niece: "Why is he trying to escape the cops by running up a steep sandy gravel hill?"
Me: "He didn't get into this predicament in the first place by being a rocket scientist."
