That said evwn if it somehow became the new standard I still wouldn't support it because I love my projector and Oppo and don't see a big enough difference to upgrade all my gear and replace 1000 movies.
right but the industry commented to 4k including 4k bluray. They will keep on pushing the format. Also, streaming is not the shoe in people think.Unless you have super speed internet, streaming 4k is difficult. Many many people don't have that kind of speed. People forget this is a business 4K movies must be doing good business or we wouldn't have 4k blu-ray.

I just pulled the trigger, since I was able to use a $10 gift certificate to pre-order this Blu-ray today for a cheaper price. Here's looking forward to a new transfer (although I'll be stuck watching the standard Blu-ray in the package until I acquire a 4K player.).

Robert Harris (Home Theater Forum) says in his review that this purchase would be worth it alone for the standard Blu-ray, which can only be purchased through this combo.

For now. There is supposed to be a standard bluray release later.

Really don't like that WB is pulling this with the delayed Blu-ray release. I hope this doesn't become a trend.

One reviewer said the day scenes on the UNFORGIVEN 4K UHD are too dark compared to the 4K blu-ray.

Also, the reviewer on here said the black levels on the GOODFELLAS 4K UHD are horrible.

I hope 4K UHD eventually crash and burns.

Yeah, I'm not sure I can get a 4k TV and the blu ray player you need to play those right now. There is no way I'm upgrading all my shit again. Buying the same stuff over and over again has to end at some point.

Which is why people SHOULDN'T go out and buy this 4K release only to just watch the new blu-ray.

I like it, push people to upgrade and move on to the new format. That's what they never had the balls to do with DVD->BD. I know many would complain, but it's better in the long run IMO.

This is insanity. Even if this UHD is flawed (which only ONE reviewer has said) the vast majority are a good improvement over normal blu. Don't let your angst over upgrading make you burn a superior format alive.

A 4K UHD isn't that much better than a 4K blu-ray. I've seen enough comparisons. Not worth upgrading imo.

Why wouldn't it? Digital downloads precede blu-ray releases, because that's what every studio wants to push. Sorry you don't like it, but it's how progress works. Be happy you still have a disc to buy, because after a while you won't even have that.

Man, all of this Anti-4K jabber is a bunch of hogwash.

Bet this is all coming from silly people who supported a truly gimmicky home video format like Blu-Ray 3D.

We aren't anti-4K, more like cautious about UHD and color timing.

This is the thing that is going to annoy me about UHD transfers. Will this site re-review movies that come out in UHD format? I'm currently buying them because they come with a regular Blu-ray copy I can watch now until I eventually get a new TV. Only thing is, just because a movie is being released in UHD doesn't necessarily mean the transfer is better. Similar to how some Blu-rays were messed with so much (DNR for example) you're better off watching the DVD copy.

This is where I'm at with UHD for the time being. Cautious about screwing with color timing, grain, etc.

Insanity. The improvement depends on the movie of course, but there are many which are a really big upgrade. This is what some said about DVD to blu-ray, because they didn't want to pay for blu-ray. It's just a rationale for avoiding paying up.

The vast majority look pretty much the same in these areas, only with more detail, more texture and better dynamic range. There are a few that are bigger changes, but they're few and far between, and the forum helps you pick them out.

Yeah, it's so unreasonable for us Blu-ray supporters to support Blu-ray in the Blu-ray subforum.

If you all want to revel in the greatness of UHD, there's an area of the forum for that.

No, it's really not. DVD was an eye sore on my (then) new HDTV. Particularly because studios (I'm looking at you WB) started to go the cheap route on encodes of new films. That's what pushed me to jump on Blu-ray. I'll admit I tried to rationalize my way out of it for a time, but eventually I dove in.

Blu-ray looks absolutely stunning on my 4K TV. No BS. It doesn't have your new fangled HDR (which has not bewitched me as it has apparently everybody else), but the detail is crisp and clear and overall gorgeous. That's all I want.
