Spiderman 2.1 - NOT MI4K
SPIDER-MAN 3- MI4K

We really need the first post on this thread to be updated with all the info of what this new set has doesn't have. That way we can go back to talking about Jurassic Park and such

I am confused about the menus.

Discs 1, 2 and 3 are different on the trilogy than my 2012 releases AND they have different content and 1 and 3 are Mi4K and they have different numbers of chapters so how can they have the "same" menus?

You remember that bridge breakup scene in Spider-Man 3? A lot of people thought it painted MJ as being stupid, and that she should have told Peter that Harry was setting them up. She knows Peter is Spider-Man. She doesn't think he can handle Harry? However, I talked to someone who worked on the movie, and he gave an explanation for it.

"It's more complicated than that. Harry isn't just a supervillian. He's also their close friend. So I think she's conflicted and can't do the simple and obvious thing."

That was one aspect that they kind got right with Harry from the comics.
He was a manipulative little *****.lol...
He drove Peter to the point of insanity more than anyone else. He was a much better Goblin than Norman!
Norman went after Peter so much and only his loved ones once.
Harry f*cked with his head so much.

But no, we got forced drama.

And trust me, I have many, many issues with Amazing Spider-Man.
I never said they were perfect. Far from it. But they were better made, directed and the characters (except Connors) were almost damn near perfect from the comics.

Raimi wanted a Superman movie and never was able to. Superman was his childhood idol, not Spider-Man.
Hell, look at all the homages towards Superman in Spider-Man 1 alone!
Ted, his brother, called him out on his sh*t years ago and set the record straight.
It was Superman painted on his wall, not Spider-Man.
Framing a villain for something they didn't do doesn't seem like something Peter Parker would do. Plus the whole blaming his father's death came from the comics so I really don't know why you're criticizing the movie for putting that plot point into the movies.

TASM films better made? LMAO

The same set of movies that were more focus on copying any CBM trend that was relevant. Copying Marvel's success with the MCU than they were on making good movies and that ended up being their downfall with TASM franchise.

The same set of movies that would focus on a plot point and then abandon it to focus on something else without ever going back and resolving it.

The horrific editing for both movies where they removed scenes that had no business being on the cutting room floor.

The same set of movies that couldn't have a consistent tone to save their lives. TASM1 look like it wanted to be Batman Begins/The Dark Knight and then after the HUGE success of the Avengers, they back track and go back to the lighthearted tone that they wanted to abandon in the first place with TASM2.

Characters?
Uncle Ben barely meant jackshit in those movies. He just dies and Peter NEVER blames himself for it or feels guilty. He just wants revenge until Captain Stacy calls him out on it. Speaking of Captain Stacy, he felt more important than Uncle Ben did in TASM1.

People like to criticize Peter/MJ in the Raimi movies but Peter/Gwen wasn't all that much better. People see the Garfield/Stone's good chemistry and they think it's good writing. It's not. Atleast Raimi tried to tell a story with Peter/MJ. Webb played it safe to avoid Gwen having the same backlash Mary Jane got and as a result, Gwen is just this flawless boring ass character. I'm not saying have her cheat on Peter with Norman Osborn but you could've atleast made her hate Spider-Man and not know that Peter is Spider-Man. Having the main love interest hate the superhero would've been SOMETHING NEW.

I don't even know why it matters if Raimi is a bigger fan of Spider-Man or Superman. He made three Spider-Man movies and two of them are well liked. Bryan Singer was a bigger fan of Superman than he was X-Men (he abandoned X3 in favor of Superman Returns) but he still made X-Men movies that people like besides Apocalypse (I don't like them myself but I'm in the minority).

Making Spider-Man a "Chosen One" in TASM series is a profound misunderstanding of the character, so case closed (for me) on whether Raimi's series is better (it is in every way, for me).

There are moments of wit from Garfield that "feel like the comic" for sure, but everything else? Not even close.

Nah...

And at the very least, regardless of your preference of Spider-Man films, all existing cuts of all of the Spidey movies are readily available... and in HD.

How many tracks does it have? I've heard this story before from other people as well. Though I do have many files already, it would be nice to email them to tell them how much I'm grateful that the score exists.

I was having a friend listen to a few cues, and he liked what he heard. Really, it's just one of those scores that have appealed to many.

I could, but considering how I'm wanting to stick with having as close to definitive of a set as I can get for the Raimi films, I'll likely just buy the new set and sell the older one.

I watched the Editor's cut again last night with no stops and wow, the picture looked fantastic on my setup and the surround was awesome. There was one Venom scream from the rear speakers that nearly sent my out of my chair! LOL

I mean if they want to release in UHD with Atmos I'll buy it, but damn, I'll be impressed if it's much better than what I have now.

These are really well done digibooks. Not at all like the target storybooks.
This is more like the ghostbusters digibook.

So this is actually an upgrade for the last trilogy boxset in that it has more of the DVD features and the MI4K transfers for 1 and 3 correct?

If so...WHY NOT HAVE THE 4K of 2? Why do they always have to have something wrong with Spidey releases that make the buyer have to hold onto so many copies?

Because 2.1 is branched and uses the old master.
