Not sure; I don't think so. But it *will* give the punters a chance to see what Blu can do, and as the saying goes, once you've had Blu there's no going back. :-)

I'd say that after christmas, the PS3 will really start to catch some speed, while the X360 will slow down. You have to admit that after this point, nothing great is announced for M$'s box.

The big thing right now is, PS3 has real momentum. The E3 showing really blew everyone away and did something the 360 show didnt, which was hype up things to come near and far. People DO buy for potential, and this just adds to it. Ontop of all of this, xbox 360 sales have been declining ever since they banned people with hacked consoles. Its been dropping 30+k units a month for 2 months strait, we'll see what happens this next month when we get the official numbers.

The peter moore loss, the admiting that every 360 sold is faulty, and the countless horror storys of bad 360s happening, the 1+ BILLION they are spending to repair broken consoles, coupled with FPS game after FPS game on the 360 (no variety for the general consumer and even jrpg's sold piss poor in japan), reeks of something bad about to happen. Robbie Bach who is the father of the 360 sold 6+ million in stock from MS as well just recently. Something is up, and i think public reaction to the MS BS will soon take its toll.

Xbox has a better holiday game line up thats ridicolous !!! All the 360 has to offer is Halo 3 and more first person shooters and did I mention Halo. The PS3 has a diverse line of games coming that are more attractive. I"am only stating facts the 360 is a one dimensional system. Who cares about their video service. The biggest concern for Sony is getting games out for the PS3 not video downloads.

Honestly i dont think sony will come out ahead by the end of the year. here is why...true that ever since the so called "price drop" the ps3 has been selling so much better. But as sony officials already said it's really not a price drop but a way to fate out of the 60gig model and in with the new 80gig. (im sure that im not the only person who has heard about this) so after the 60gig is gone do you really think people will be happy paying the 599 for the new model when they knew there was a cheaper yet maybe even better model?
Better in the way that it cost less and you still had 100 dollars to invest the way you wanted to like in game of your choice or a bigger harddrive(20gigs more nowadays inst so much)
But if they decide to lower the price of their new model by the christmas season then it might just do good

As for the 360 the only game i see that even looks good is bioshock and i dont think halo 3 would bring a lot more people onboard when it comes out since like another person already said "if they are waiting for halo then they should already have one"

Holiday line up does not mean games just released around Christmas, these are games released Sep-Nov for the holiday time frame. Based on these games Xbox 360 FAR outweighs the PS3 in available blockbuster titles. We are also talking about games selling consoles. Sony will not sell their consoles based on games that are being released on both systems. Sony does not have that many blockbuster exclusives that will sell consoles.

Plus if I am a consumer and looking forward to a Halo 3 or a Bioshock or a Mass effect or an Alan Wake or Blue Dragon or Too Human (if it makes it out this year) or Beautiful Katamari, amongst others, I would, as a consumer, much rather buy an Xbox 360 since I also get the advantage of the other games that are coming on both systems as well as the larger number of exclusives. Sure Sony will be releasing some good games and they look amazing but they are not going to drive console sales because of the lack of other exclusive titles available for it. This is of course my opinion and think most consumers, who are in the market for a new console, will be more interested in the catalog of games at this point. You and I and many others here are the minority and know which games and consoles are superior. However, again we are the minority, the remaining left on the sidelines are now going to be the majority and content is key. Which right now and for the rest of 2007 has to go Microsofts way.

Now keep in mind we're also referring to the North American market and games that are do out this year that really look good for the PS3 and are exclusive to it might not appeal to the US market like it would in Japan or over seas (i.e Lair, Heavenly Sword, Folklore).

Im surprised that the margin is that lardge (5,000) but if you ask me 360 deserve to have higher amounts, look at how many games its got.

But in 08 theres no one who has a better line up then sony, microsoft better pull a halo 4 out there ass next year because ps3 will be racing ahead then.

That means nothing if at the end of the day Microsoft's entertainment division is still operating in the red.

If this were any other company we wouldn't even be talking about the Xbox 360 because the Xbox brand would have failed with the previous console.

So true, but doesn't have any bearing on the number of consoles being sold.

Probably only Halo 3, Mass Effect and Lost Odyssey for the remainder of the year. The other upcoming X360 games are CRAP.

Anyhow, this could probably be just a spike (due to the price cut) and may not be long-term.

Hopefully Xmas season should provide a boost for PS3 sales.

Only time will tell right? We will have to revisit this thread in January 2008 to see which opinions were more on track

you're a little bit mistaken here....just a little...

the 80 is 599 with a package deal.....

when the 60 goes away...I'd only expect the 80 to go to 499....it would be stupid to re-start the price life-cycle at this point....common sense only says that the price of the 80 will be 499...

and on top of that...they might just decide to run with that deal until they do another official price drop...

so in theory...the 80 could go from a 599 package deal to pretty much a 399 price by itself.....

guys, look at it this way. Let the naysayers keep harping that PS3 will be 599 again soon. That benefits PS3 sales in 2 ways:
1. People do not hold off buying a PS3 NOW while it is available at 499.

2. When the price drops to 499 (sans included game), people wanting a PS3 but being on the fence due to 599 will be pleasantly surprised and may buy one.
There is no downside to this rumour at all. Let them carry on, if it makes them happy. I know it does SCEI

Sony is great at teasing us,not only do they show you what is coming out in a few months, they also show you what's coming in the future to give you something to look forward to. Despite the PS3's cost, you have to admit when E3 2005 came around, The PS3 had that "I gotta get me one of these!" appeal to it,like "OMG! That rocks so much I can't wait to camp out in front of Best Buy 87465 days!" M$ can't seem to get a large enough people excited about their products.M$ not showing off exclusive beyond the holiday season is a weak point for them that they can't seem to get through their thick heads. M$ doesn't "get it" Sony "Gets it".
