It is absolutely pathetic how the Mets couldn't win one game against the Dodgers this weekend... heck, they didn't even win one game against them at all this season. Absolute trash the way the Mets have been playing this season!!!

Dodgers are by far the best team in baseball, especially over the last 2 months. Nationals are currently the only team they don't have a winning record against (1-2).

But they played a total of 7 games against them this season and lost ALL 7. The fact that they couldn't win at least one game shows that the team is not putting in any effort.

As an Astros fan I would love to see this matchup. We are hurting right now and not playing as well but damn still look at the numbers these 2 teams are putting up. Offensively for the Astros and Pitching for the Dodgers.

Umpire Joe West suspended three games for comments he made about Adrian Beltre.

NEW YORK -- Joe West, the major leagues' senior umpire, has been suspended for three days for comments he made about Texas third baseman Adrian Beltre.

In a USA Today report published June 20 timed to coincide with the umpire's 5,000th regular-season game, West said "it's got to be Adrian Beltre" when asked who was the biggest complainer in the major leagues.

"Every pitch you call that's a strike, he says, 'Whoa! Whoa! Whoa!' I had a game with him recently and the pitch was right down the middle. He tells me, 'That ball is outside,'" West was quoted as saying.

"I told him, 'You may be a great ballplayer, but you're the worst umpire in the league. You stink,'" West also was quoted as saying.

Beltre told reporters Tuesday he thought West's suspension was unnecessary and that West told him he was kidding when he worked a Rangers' series in early July.

The World Umpires Association said Tuesday that West was serving the first game of the suspension. It said Major League Baseball told the union in an Aug. 3 letter the discipline was in response to an "appearance of lack of impartiality."

"Joking interactions between umpires and players are a routine part of the game," the union said in a statement. "We disagree strongly with the decision to punish Joe West simply for sharing a humorous exchange with a player."

MLB did not immediately comment.

The 64-year-old West made his big league debut in September 1976 and trails only Bill Klemm (5,375) and Bruce Froemming (5,163) among regular-season games worked. West's 123 postseason games are 10 behind Gerry Davis' record.

I don't see anything even remotely deserving a suspension in that article you quoted. Who is the snowflake who handed this punishment down, they are in fact the one who needs to be suspended and not this umpire!

The only way the Marlins would consider trading Stanton is if the new owners wanted it to happen. The deal is far from finalized and could easily fall apart still so you're not going to trade your franchise player unless the new owners ask them to. From a business standpoint trading Stanton might not be a terrible idea since his contract is so backloaded, but it would be a bad look for the new ownership group if one of the first things they did after buying the team (even if they don't officially own it yet) is trading Stanton.

Rich Hill's perfect game against Pittsburgh was broken up in the ninth... by a teammate's error. However, it was scoreless so he took a no-hitter into the tenth... and gave up a walk-off home run to the first batter.
