Are there really 2 IT movies? Or just 2 different eras/parts in one movie?

There's going to be. The first part is actually called The Losers Club while the second is expected to go into production next year.

Maybe they can get Cary Fukunaga for the second one. I know I'd prefer him to be on a film set than, like, a school or whatever.

If the first one is as good as we are hearing then keeping the first director would be in everyone's best interest.

Finishing up the novel and along with a myriad number of things, can't believe any of the disturbing behavior and actions of Patrick Hockstetter will end up in this movie.

That particular chapter won't be in the film, no, which is a shame as it's one of my favourites in the book.

Yeah I just finished that chapter recently, and was wondering how demented they were actually going to make Bowers and Patrick in the film.

Glad you enjoyed it though.
The kids are great. I haven't read the book in years, so my main point of reference is the TV movie - and the kids are so much better here. Richie and Eddie are basically all snark, all the time, while Ben is absolutely adorable. Bev's my favorite - she seems older than the rest of them (and I might have shipped her and Ben the whole time).

Pacing-wise, it's long but never felt like it. I could have sat for another two hours.

My only worry with this movie is that it overdoes the gore and blood. I've always hated torture porn horror movies (Saw, Hostel, etc.) because I don't find that scary at all. It's just gross. And based on the early reviews, it does seem like there are some gruesome scenes in this movie.

It's very, very violent, but it isn't torture porn-y.

I can handle some gore and intense scenes in horror. I was fine with the gore and violence in Annabelle: Creation for example. I just can't handle when the gore and blood and torture goes really over the top like Saw and Hostel, because then I get turned off from the movie. Hoping IT isn't too gore-y.

Skipped seeing this last night in favor of going to a party to watch the fight. It is a decision my hangover and I regretted this morning.

A movie about a creature that eats kids should be violent.

The Director and some early reviews said the movie doesn't hold anything back. Plus, like someone said earlier, this is a story about an entity that eats children in very violent ways. So its guaranteed that the violence will be intense. The movie may not be for you. You won't know until you see it for yourself.

So I'm guessing this does not have the fridge/flying leeches scene? Because to me that was the entire point in doing a hardcore rated R version of IT.

They could have rejiggered the stuff leading to it (ditch the masturbation stuff and have them looking at the Burt Reynolds PLAYGIRL centerfold, and taunt Beverly with it), just as long as they had the f-cking flying leeches.
