Hm.. So for Chapter 2, not only is he wanting to turn Mike into a junkie (?!) librarian, but it also seems like he's maybe hinting at the idea

I was always excited for this, even when Will Poulter was announced as Pennywise, but it didn't do much for me. I didn't love it, nor did I hate it, I was merely entertained. The abundant CGI was distracting (Pennywise's eyes during the Georgie opening were woeful), the music cues telegraphed every scare, and what they did to Bev during the final act was unnecessary and ridiculous, but the kids were always funny & highly likable. I was kind of meh on Pennywise himself; in some scenes he was just another modern CGI freakshow, yet in others they kept the enhancements to a minimum & he was genuinely frightening.

I'm still excited for the next installment, I just wish I had liked this more.

The eyes weren't CGI'ed it was Bill reportedly

[Show spoiler]The lights are called the deadlights and are basically It's true form.

And Roland probably couldn't kill Pennywise, but he'd damn sure try.

Maybe through the rest of the film, but they were clearly "enhanced" during that sequence.

I never read the book or saw the mini-series.
I was reading about changes in the movie and I wondered about this

[Show spoiler]In the book Georgie's body is found? So It just rips his arm off and doesn't 'feed' at all? Just kills him for fun, I guess? Or It consumes something else - the 'fear' of the person instead of the physical body?

[Show spoiler]I wouldn't say easy for Roland, but certainly possible (assuming we're talking about IT in it's true form). He was able to defeat the Man in Black, and he was comparable to Pennywise in terms of strength. Man in Black also messes with people's heads/allusions which is like Pennywise.

After posting I went and read a book preview which includes the scene.

[Show spoiler]I guess It really kind failed then? Because he didn't get the kid and now people will be looking to avoid the sewer - meaning It gave away its main location and now people know to be on the lookout.

The storm drain must be different in King's mind than what it is in the movie. The kid can see It holding a bunch of balloons in one hand and the boat in the other. I can't picture a storm drain where you could see that.

[Show spoiler]It could be possible that Pennywise/IT planned to pull Georgie through the sewer grate but miscalculated the size of the young boy and being Georgie was too large, simply pulled his arm off trying to drag him into the sewer. The "you'll float too" quote seems to suggest it.

I currently live in a town that is susceptible to major flooding so the sewer drains are quite large. The openings are narrow but wide, I could hypothetically see a clown down there holding balloons and a paper boat. The major problem would be the lighting, without any kind of light source seeing into the grate would be next to impossible, without sticking your entire head inside with a flashlight for guidance.
