I dunno. I guess to me being scary and creating fear are two different things.
[Show spoiler]It feeds off of fear hence why he didn't eat the kids when he had the chance because he wanted them to be filled with terror so when he did eat them he was satiated. It's probably why he waited until that moment to actually eat Georgie because he was full of fear reaching for his paper boat.
I could be way off but that's why the movie worked for me. It wasn't really scary but there was always a sense of tension and fear throughout the movie that made me very uneasy.

If you want campy and cheesy. He's not the definitive Pennywise and I'm thankful that Skarsgard made Pennywise his own and did it right.

I am so impressed that IT is the ninth highest grossing movie domestically for the year. When the results come today, that will go up even more.

Insane for just over 10 days as well. The last "horror" film to crack the top 10 domestically of the year (horror used loosely) was I am Legend back in 2007, the last R-rated one was The Blair Witch Project from 1999.

It was obvious due to scenes early and later in the film that IT had the capability to capture and or kill kids seemingly at will. Why did this group get a free pass? Made no sense. And no it was NOT because they banded together since the early confrontations happened when they were clearly alone and not using the strength of each other so to speak. Total writing fail. Of course, one of the unlikeable "bad" kids "gets it" first encounter. Almost like an audience pleasing moment. Meh.

As for being scary? The opening scene was great but after that it went with the very standard and overdone jump scares, behind doors, mirrors, etc, etc tactics that we've all seen 75 million times.

I dunno. I'm not the only one that had a problem with the rules of this universe per se and what IT could do or couldn't do. Seemed random, arbitrary and very much "convenient" for whatever situation occurred at that time to further the plot. Lame. For example:
[Show spoiler]why is it when the fat kid kissed Bev when she was in a trance that she magically wakes up and is fine? What the...? True loves kiss? Nope, Bev liked Georgie's brother as we clearly saw. And, why not start kissing every comatose kid in that room that was floating? Save them too....right? Meh. Guess not. Sorry but that's just weak and poor writing.
Umm, Bev and Ben have a bond. You'll see, or should already know. Not the movie's fault you couldn't pick up on it.

I'm guessing it will finish between 6th-8th for the year. It is assured of beating Despicable Me 3, and I doubt it goes past Guardians Vol 2, so the question is if it can beat Homecoming.

That would put It at #4 or #5 for the year so far, then I feel The Last Jedi (this is assured) and Justice League will outgross it, and then there is a chance for another movie (like Thor or Coco) doing that as well.

BTW i'm not saying this film is dumb or dumbed down. I liked this new version over the original.

Just seems people wanna watch a movie full of cheap jump scares (Something like The Bye Bye Man or Unfriended) rather than think about something. because thinking Is hard. Why so many don't do it.
On the bright side, Mother should be available within 3 months on Bluray. It might find a decent home on Bluray.

I think modern audiences want to be spoon fed, it's such a shame.

That's not me having a pop at IT by the way, I really enjoyed it.

Writing was fine, it's just poor comprehension on your part. The movie isn't for everyone, but at least have an understanding of the film and/or story prior to just chalking it up to poor writing. That's just "weak".

I was finally able watch It last night. I can easily say that this movie holds a place in my all time favorite horror flicks. If there's some way to describe this movie I would have to say it's like going through one of those old school amusement park fun houses. Scary but fun all at once. I look forward to multiple viewings.

5/5

I did, the poem. But....still has no bearing on why that event at the end had the effec it did on Bev. Way too convenient and forced.

No biggy. The movie just didn't work for me for lots of reasons. No harm. Y'all enjoy it and the sequel.

You... couldn't even tell the other kids were dead. No offense dude but it seems pretty clear you weren't paying attention by this point in the film. Now that's fine and all, because if you don't like it, you don't like it. But stop trying to find gaps in logic when you yourself aren't even paying attention. It's like cinemasins.
