Same at one of the ones I go to near downtown Austin. I know different ones have different themes, like the nearest one to my house is Planet of the Apes themed. I'm not sure if that one has the Overlook carpet. Love those little touches though.

It is the UK release. I already own the 144 min cut through my US Kubrick set, but I've been meaning to see the UK cut again, as I think I prefer it to the longer one. It's been too long since I last saw it, but I just remember liking the tighter, more isolated feel of it. Might even watch both cuts back to back just to get a better assessment.

I just experienced The Shining maze at Halloween Horror Nights in Universal Studios Hollywood last night! Not as scary (in terms of "jump scares") as the other mazes, but super atmospheric and felt very true to the film.

Not my video but this one captures it pretty well:

I still haven't seen the whole movie at one time, just pieces here and there which never really caught my attention.
Not Kubrik's best work in my opinion. Some day I may see it in it's entirety and will probably realize that all the pieces I have seen were the whole movie, just not in order.

Never saw the UK cut, should try and watch it someday. However looking at what was removed, to me it seems like it might lose too much of the abuse/alcoholic subtext of the movie.

It's strange Warner bros haven't done 4k scan yet and released it on Blu-ray and UHD. I thought this film sold good on VHS, DVD, HD-DVD and Blu-ray? Perhaps also they could do a new 5.1 remix while they're at it, as I heard it isn't so good. Hmm.

Or perhaps they could release it with the original mono mix as it was intended to be heard..

Wow. Completely blocked that floppy lipped bowl haircutted little runt out of my mind. I remember hating the mini-series, and now I remember why. His acting style has nothing on Danny Lloyd.

Amen to that, and Warner's should do the same for A Clockwork Orange and Full Metal Jacket as well...kudos to Criterion for giving us Barry Lyndon in mono.

Maybe Criterion will do the same here, include the mono, and both cuts, plus some other stuff

[Show spoiler]
I can see it now:

Quote:
• Restored 16k digital transfers of the domestic (119 mins), European (144 mins), and long-unseen premiere (146 mins) cuts of the film, approved by Stanley Kubrick's ghost
• Presented in 1.33:1, 1.78:1, 1.85:1, 2.35:1, and Snapchat filter, to satisfy the most anal of Blu-ray.com enthusiasts
• Brand new audio commentary by Stephen King in which he slags off both Stanley Kubrick and a certain President
• Exclusive extended version of the polarising documentary Room 237, now running at 237 mins approx
• Exclusive extended version of Shelley Duvall's interview with Dr. Phil
• PLUS: Bonus DVD of Stephen King's The Shining, the much-derided 1997 mini-series
Cannot wait!

You can get both of those on the old 4:3 dvd's, they're pretty easy to sync with the blu-rays and sound excellent, FMJ in particular!
