Default Last hope for NetFlix and my Blu-Ray player

I have called every 800 number available. I have written Apple Discussion, I have called Comcast, Samsung, and my local Apple dealer. No help. They just read from a computer a response that I have by now memorized. I'm about to send my new Samsung 2500 back to Amazon.
Here's the deal: After hours of fidgeting, I have finally figured out that I can either stream NetFlix or get internet for my computers but not both. Period. I am somewhat techno impaired but in some of the discussions someone mentioned that you cannot have two IP addresses for one cable OR you cannot have one IP address and run NetFlix and surf the web on your laptop. The second seems absurd. In the very fine print, Samsung says that some IP's will not let you stream NetFlix. Does anyone know if that is true with Comcast? Comcast themselves didn't know (honest! - at least not the boiler plate email I got back said they didn't). It honestly starts to get funny when I go through all the set up online with my Samsung and then they give me a password to start streaming movies. BUT, to do this, I must disconnect my Samsung to get online with my laptop to plug in the password. By the time I do that, the password time has expired! LOL!!!!! Besides, I don't even think it would work by the time I switched back to "live" NetFlix.

Why would that be a joke? It's very possible that you have a modem but no router . . . I believe that's what JasonR was getting at. But, if he had some sort of answer for you I doubt he'll be much inclined, anymore.

Why would it be a joke?

That was the first thing that popped into my mind, especially considering that you said you're tech-impaired.

How about you start at the top...

Your cable comes into your house and is connected to a ______________. That device is connected to a _____________________.

So, fill in the blanks.

Also:
Cable modem brand/model number?
Router brand/model number?

Then get into the nitty-gritty:

Local IP Address of Router:
(Don't share the IP address the router is getting from the Cable modem. The number we want should be the same as the Default Gateway entry on your laptop and other network devices)
Local IP Address of Laptop:
Local IP Address of Blu-ray player:

Did you set up any filters in your router? It's possible the router is blocking whatever port the Netflix stream uses.

Also, you mention that the Samsung prompts you for a password but you're entering the password on the laptop. I've not used the Netflix streaming service, but this sound a bit weird to me.

Especially since when asked a very serious question he responds with a very rude answer.

I bet you're not resetting your modem everytime you unplug the ethernet cord from your computer to your BD player. My guess is that you have no router.

No joke, as serious as the night is dark.

You need some device doing Network Address Translation if you have more than one device connected (if you only have one public IP).

although I sympathise with your issues, and hope they get corrected, leave the racial quips elsewhere..... It has been removed.

For your problem..... I would suggest trying to setup a wireless network, and enable "Sharing"

If you've tried that, then hopefully someone else will have a solution.
