What BD player do you have? You should be able to get PCM.

A Pioneer Elite BDP-95. I tried the initial setup, audio output, then DTS-PCM and that didn't do it, but I need to mess around with it more. Any suggestions would be welcome.

Got it to work. In my BD player's home menu, I set the HDMI audio out to PCM instead of auto. It works just fine. I just have to remember to set it back to auto when I am done. Hooray.

Terrific! I'll give that a try ASAP! Damn shame you have to go through a bunch of "Stuff" to get the disc to play correctly......

Well, it worked like a champ! Also picked up the latest firmware version for the 95FD yesterday (3.37) and that did not fix this issue. So I'm still of the opinion that this "problem" is with the disc and not the hardware.

I'm more inclined to believe it's how Pioneer is decoding the track, since PCM (where the player does the decoding) plays it fine. I'd be contacting Pioneer for a firmware update.

Ok, I think I see what you mean.........so when the BD player audio is set to "auto" what piece of hardware is doing the decoding? The Receiver or the player?

Just wanted to say thanks for posting this and thanks for the thread. On my system the audio glitches were somewhat subtle, but still there. I switched to PCM as posted above and it worked perfect!
Thanks again-

Thumbs down Finally getting to watch it -- audio problems here too!

I have the Pioneer Elite VSX-92TXH and the Panny DMP-BD55.

Fortunately, I can let the BD player decode it and send it out as PCM. Not an ideal situation, but allows me to watch the movie.

I'm wondering if it is a Pioneer issue.

Pioneer is notorious for problems (almost as bad as Samsung). When Pioneer made the Sony BDP-S1, I heard that part of the delay for releasing it was the firmware problems. Pioneers own BD players have not been the best.

I also have a Pioneer car stereo NAVI unit, which is a good piece but was plagued with glitchy software. Until their last update, people were hating on it big time.

This is my first Pioneer Elite receiver, and I do think sometimes it is a bit glitchy. Once in a great while the sound goes out completely and I have to restart it for it to work properly.

There is still a possibility that it is a disc encoding issue. That has certainly happened before.

Has anyone heard anything new about this???
