Yes, really. Closest Best Buy with it is 18.1 miles away and I live in Chicago area. Was-mart is out, wit none for local pickup. Target has none. Maybe more are on the way to this area. Messed up distribution...it was the same with Unforgiven if I remember correctly.

As I've said before, if it gets you to support the format then I am glad they exist and I hope you get them in good shape. I just don't think your standard is something random Best Buy employees think about when they put them on the shelf. For the average Jane and Joe it's just part of the packaging you tear off to get to the actual content.

That would be me. I can't stand the slips for uniformity sake. They don't fit in on the shelf amongst the non-slips and Stellbooks.

Sorry to hear that, I live about an hour away from Chicago so it may just be that the larger population in that area bought them up. I hear you though, it's very frustrating to go to the store and find that they don't have it. I don't have a problem with online purchasing, for a while I preferred it but it seems like these days you end up paying more and if you don't pay a premium for shipping then you end up waiting longer too. I had problems finding Unforgiven and Blade Runner but they are both Warner titles. I have never had an issue finding Sony discs in multiple stores on release date.

Grain is an essential part of the beauty of film, man. Would never want to "get rid" of it.

I really don't understand when I see comments from members proclaiming their hatred for grain. It's obvious 4K discs are geared towards videophiles. In my opinion it's one of the greater benefits to the format.

I'm noticing more 'techie type' grain haters getting into the format. They are not true fans of film, lack understanding or the nature of film, its history, artistic intent, originality, etc. but want the latest and greatest technology. I'm really hoping these people don't get the studios wobbly knee'd to start DNR'ing as happened early on in BD's format. I was hoping we won that battle, but you never know.

The "grain" on this disc is subtle and offers a classic, filmic experience. It's really a non-issue for this release. If there were complaints, they should be geared towards how soft the PQ looks, but to be fair... what little grain there is, it's probably helping the image. Just my two cents.

As for the movie, the transitions are still amazing and the practical effects still work.

Off Topic, why is Kick-Ass and the Scarlet Witch making out in my Godzilla movie!?

The grain is fine and is a natural side effect of something shot on... film. If people want the grain removed, I hope TV companies add a "degrain" filter option. But removing it when it can't be added back is, in my mind, a bad way to handle the situation. Oftentimes the detail of an image is locked away in that "grain" people seem to dislike. Smoothing it out defeats the purpose of 4K by also removing the high resolution detail that was there.

Watched my copy last night case was damaged in shipping including slip but discs survived

Movie looked great I just consider the grain part of the movie it's dark and grainy by nature but I didn't think it was excessive. I did not compare to bluray. Atmos track was ok nothing special but overall definitely best presentation I've seen it.

Strange thing this new-age hatred of film grain

I never read on audiophile or headphone forums people complaining of added detail in music

It's unfortunate that Amazon is now selling the title only through a third-party vendor (with shipping costs) and the local Best Buy has no available copies. Sounds like yet another distribution screw-up.
