Ok, so you are comparing basically a 2 year old TV to one that was just recently released. The 61F only had a 10K contrast while the LG has 50K and 120hz processing. I would hope you see an improvement However, if I were to pit the LG against a Samsung in the same catagory... let's say a 650... I'd give Samsung the nod.

Currently $1,299.99 on Amazon shipped. Not a bad price for a TV with good good contrast ratio and 120hz processing.

Load times on BD live and BD menus are quicker on the 60gb....even the 40gb vs the original MGS/Motorstorm 80 shows the difference...it's not just PS2 games...it's also SACD/DSD support as well...add the load time/benchmarks into it and there's a clear advantage to the 60 or the original 80.

I have a 4061 and the pq is excellent. I have spent time calibrating it too.

I don't really care about all that. As long as I can watch my blu rays and play video games, I could careless about anything else.

Hands down the Samsung.......have we forgotten that LG's are horrible? I can't believe that people fall for the old " I know we'll change our company image and people will buy our products again" crap.

LG= Lucky Goldstar.........now known as LG= Life is Good.

Then there's a local store that's selling the Samsung 46 inch 540 series. Both are 1080p of course.. read reviews on both, and it's pretty much the same reviews. I'd like inputs from you guys. Thanks.

LET ME KNOW.
Stores are not selling a lot of Lucky Goldstars lately.........oh and that 3 year is just a 3year.....it replaces the 1 year manufacturers warranty. It doesn't make it a 4 year. You also have to take it to the store for service......no home service....

OK you are not right on a couple of things on here. First, blacks are better on plasmas than lcds. I don't know who or what in the world told you other wise but it is very commonly known that plasmas have better blacks than lcds. Plasmas also DON'T have a longer life span than lcds. Recently plasmas have gotten better with longer life spans but in this area lcds are still supreme.

Don't listen to people telling you to keep the tv you have. If you want the lcd than GO FOR IT! It's your decision! I bought a panny 800u but took it back for my samsung 650 and i DON'T regert it one bit. I love the AMP and i love a bright screen, this is why i don't own a plasma.

Get what you want!

But if i was you, i'd go for the sammy

Do understand that there will be a drop in overall contrast and slight decrease in overall black level. Many people find it difficult moving from a plasma to an lcd. Some people do prefer LCDs over plasmas, I am one of them, but I can say that plasma as a technology is still better.

Well if a Plasma last 50,000 hours and and LCD last 50,000 hours sounds like a tie for longevity. HMM.

dont feel bad, personally, I have seen 2 lg's in my dads house and one is a 26" in the bedroom and a 19" in the kitchen. I thought they were nice. Dude, I have a Sony receiver and Sony speakers, you know how much stuff people say to me.... if you are happy with what you have that is all that matters... I love my Sony products.

Get what you think looks good. The reason people mention Panasonic is because it's tried and true. A good example is myself. We have 2 Panasonics. One plasma and one LCD. Both have no issues. I even threw the LCD on the floor and it's still perfect.

We also have a Samsung plasma and a Westinghouse LCD. All of which look great. Granted, the plasmas look better than the LCD's, it's all personal preference.

Panasonic - the price point, quality and service is perfect. It can not be beat for what you get. Above that, you have Pioneer. Sorry, but they are too expensive for what you get. I don't care if blacks are pure black - it's not worth the extra cost. Some think it is, that's fine. I would never bash anyone for it. I would just state the cost to feature ratio is too high. Panasonic is the the best IMO. Samsung, I have never viewed their LCD's so I can speak on that.

You have to remember, people recommend what they have because they have used it and seen it. Remember that
