Since Site B is still out there the destruction of Isla Nublar isn't as devastating.
One thing that puzzles me is if JW2 is set 7 years after JW.....when did JW supposedly happen (year-wise)? Last edited by RalphoR; 12-05-2017 at 10:11 PM. Reason: Grammar |

According to the movie's canonized timeline, construction on Jurassic World began in 2002 and Jurassic World opened to the public in 2015. So relatively speaking, Fallen Kingdom takes place in the year the film is released, 2018. |

There are lots of movies in which the CGI is noticeable (Transformers, A.I., The Force Awakens, Jurassic Park, Apes etc.) and isn't bad. Quite the contrary. So that's not an explanation.
I'm befuddled by the defensiveness of some people regarding CGI. Is it gonna become a taboo topic here? Do I have to be a digital animation expert in order to opine that a fake creature looks fake onscreen? Should I withhold criticism because people worked long hours to achieve dubious results? The answer, of course, is no. Better put those who won't passively accept expensive movie CGI that looks like XBox 360 videogame cutscenes on ignore. |

Remember, it was humans that drove the Dodo and the Mammoth to extinction by over-hunting. Now they are doing the same to Rhinos and Big cats. There are canned hunts going on. Dogs and cats get skinned, boiled, gored alive; Donkeys are beaten to death by hammers, why? Because the butchers believe the more you torture animals the better the meat, the medicines. Same is the fate of goats, Cows, bulls, turkeys, pigs and chickens. They lead miserable lives because of us. It's not for nothing so many people across the world are turning vegans after realising the truth behind the meat and leather industries, among others. In the words of Owen Grady, "Human are an overrated species." They are bloody hypocrites. They have created the most number of problems in the world, made it a violent place and are alrady threatening the ecosystem in the planet. WE ARE THE MONSTERS BUDDY! We are taught animals are the monsters because it helps us feel superior and helps us not care when we destroy them everyday, bit by bit. Our population has skyrocketed to the point where we are encroaching on the homes of wild animals, cutting down forests and building concrete jungles. We are polluting the rivers, the skies and everything else. We have become a cancer on this planet. All because of the selfish greed of Men. We want to grow at the expense of all other life! We are destroying our moral right to stay in this planet by our utter disregard for the lives of animals and the greater natural world. Anyway, as I said before, the dinosaurs are metaphorical representations about animals and the natural world of today, that is threatened with destruction. Remember the line from Shakespeare's Macbeth - "vaulting ambition, which o'erleaps itself and falls on th'other" ? In my opinion, the volcano is a physical representation of that. Just like our own evil desires have threatened the natural world with extinction, the dinosaurs are threatened too. However, I would've personally added a poaching and other real world abuse angles to the story. But, seeing as Colin has promised that JW2 will deal with our relationship and exploitation, abuse of animals, I think such issues will be addressed. It's about time the JP series tackled real-world topical issues because it is perfect for it. I want to see the animals survive. Of course all of them cannot be saved, but as a symbol of the natural world, they must survive! Last edited by Riddhi2011; 12-06-2017 at 03:58 AM. |

Humans played God in the first movie. They brought those animals back to life. Obviously, things didn't go as planned... Due to human greed. Now what they should do is just kill the dinosaurs off because some carnivores did what Nature intended them to do and ate luckless people? Taking no responsibility whatsoever for the life they created? That'd much too simplistic, even for a summer blockbuster.

We need these movies to teach kids to love animals and love the natural world. I know that my love for animals, jungles, rain, was influenced a lot by Jurassic Park and the subsequent sequels. This is our eleventh hour. We can't just treat dinosaurs as monsters anymore, That'd be utterly irresponsible!

Great post. It actually reminded me of the final scene of The Counselor, where Cameron Diaz' character gives this truly chilling speech that pretty much sums up human nature. |

Right. The people who don't know how to use it in the best possible way are though. Not really the enemy, but it's unfortunate.
Wrong. How much work and effort was put in something isn't a reason to label something as good automatically. Tarkin is the perfect example of impressive CGI used the wrong way. But I really really don't want to go into that once again. It has been discussed endlessly in the related threads. Back to the first line: Some of the most mediocre CGI has been created by teams working day and night, blood, sweat and tears, to create stuff that ain't good enough. One has little to do with the other. |
