Anybody Recommend Man on Fire or Speed on Blu? - Blu-ray Forum

I love these films, but I don't want to have a bad disc in my collection (transfer wise...

so far my collection consists of:

batman begins
dark knight
troy
first blood
band of brothers
top gun
iron man

Man on Fire has EXCELLENT PQ and SQ, and one of my favorite stories to boot - go get it, sir!

Both are great looking movies. I think the review for Speed on this site is spot on.

Man on Fire looks and sounds great, the movie is ok it has its moments where its pretty cool. But some of the effects are pretty wack.

You'll love it, I think it's his best movie, Fallen 2nd.

Id recommend Speed. It is a very good action flick. Man on Fire is a little slow and boring. It tries to come off as an action flick but has very little action for how long it is. And other then Dakota Fanning, there is no characters you really like or want to root for. I tried giving it a second chance on Blu and sold it.

MAN ON FIRE from a qualitative standpoint is one of the best BD's out there!

You have an absolutely incredible picture (understanding the grainy way it's shot) that features every detail available in the picture. It also has one of the best audio mixes out there. Very detailed and very intense!

Man on Fire would be one of my favorite releases if it wasn't for the fact that the disc is completely barebones. I have to keep my DVD copy as well :/

Man on Fire and Kingdom of Heaven are both in a similar boat for me -- fantastic releases, but disappointingly crippled by the complete lack of anything else on the disc.

If you don't mind it being barebones, then I absolutely recommend Man on Fire. Didn't care that much for speed, while it was entertaining when it came out in theaters, I've not felt the need to see it again.

Both Man on Fire and Speed are must owns. Speed is a classic 90's action flick that still holds up very well today. Man on Fire is just a viscious revenge movie that really shines on BD with a spectacular reference quality transfer and soundtrack.

I own both.

Man on Fire if you find at a good price. Unfortunately Fox chose to release it barebones.

Another vote for Man on Fire. One of my favorite transfers. Great PQ and a great movie with an awesome soundtrack.
