KL Insider, when Kino does a new deal with MGM, can you look into acquiring Jamaa Fanaka's Penitentiary III? Vinegar Syndrome are releasing Penitentiary I and 2 on blu-ray and I'm sure everyone buying those releases will want to buy part III to finish the series. Thanks!

I know Linnea Quigley sells. I'm not the only one that would rather watch a VHS of this mediocre film with a Linnea Quigley scene versus a Blu-ray with the director's vision. The scene is on the damn poster and the cover of your release. It should be in the film.

50 or 60 titles? Wouldn't that account for most of your "lesser unreleased" titles. So none of the Transformations or Steele Justice's are selling? If so, that is a shame and I understand why you aren't putting out more. bummer.

I do appreciate you posting and responding. thank you

Standard Blu-rays already hit the sweet spot for me in terms of picture quality, though, and I don't generally obsess over technical presentations.

You have no idea what they pay or even if they pay. Posting on a forum is not a indicator that Blu-ray .com drives enough sales to drive crappy film sales. Get over yourself and Linnea..lol

KL insider is being paid to be here. Here's not here to be a swell guy. He's here generate interest (sales). You arguing that shows you are either trolling or brain-dead. And I've reached the point with you where I don't care which.

If I purchase a movie I want a physical copy of it. Something tangible to hold in my hand, it's as simple as that. As long as Blu-ray is around and companies like Kino Lorber, Shout Factory, Olive Films, Code Red, Scorpion Releasing, Vinegar Syndrome, Arrow Video,Synapse, Blue Underground, Severin Films, Mill Creek etc.
keep releasing these lesser known 70's,80's and even some 90's movies, I will continue to try and support them.

Plus streaming or getting anything of amazon video doesn't seem to create the same excitement I get when I go to the mailbox and open up a package of brand new blu-rays.

I don't miss having to drive to the video store or late fees but I do miss the atmosphere and the posters hanging on the walls especially in the smaller chains not Blockbuster.

Physical Media is the best !!!

Dear KL INSIDER,

Bucktown is with MGM and if Olive Films hasn't already secured the rights for it would KINO be able to release it ? Thanks.

KL Insider this will be my last request for a little while.

Although these two films have been released on DVD the quality wasn't great mainly because the movies are presented in 1:33 aspect ratio. Would KINO please acquire them somehow and release them on Blu-ray in glorious HD.
Thank You !

(Plus, we're still talking about a multi-billion dollar industry. It's not going anywhere.)

I honestly believe that it's the best time ever to be a collector of physical media. The selection grows deeper and broader ever year, the average A/V quality of blu-ray releases stands head and shoulders above the transfers from the format's early days, and increased competition among niche labels has pushed down prices, which is a win for consumers. What's not to appreciate?
There are already more releases than I'll ever be able to buy (or have room for... or even have time to watch).

That being said, despite all the titles that are available, of course we all have our "wantlists" of titles that are still missing from the format - and there are still announcements which are new discoveries for me (especialaly these niche labels).

I certainly hope it all can keep going for years into the future. I fear without the physical formats or revenues, studios won't care as much to properly restore and archive some of the films that they haven't taken any action on yet.

Not to mention the fact that if you move to another country to work you can't take your digital collection with you because it's territory/platform specific.

I learned my lesson several years ago when I decided it was a great idea to rip a bunch of music CDs to computer and sell the physical discs on eBay. It was great for a while, I could make my own playlists and put them on my iPod to listen to. Then due to upgrades, somehow all those files were wiped out and now I wish I still had those discs back.

Same here. I really enjoy it. Plus, it was shot in Super Panavision 70, and looks fantastic on BD.

Of course it would have been better to film the climax on location and not a sound stage, but by that time you're either invested in the story or you're not. And let's not forget the great cast - especially McGoohan.

Would love to see more MacLean on BD.
