Lets go Cubbies! Man, you can never get used to heartache. I hate the term lovable loosers.

When I sent my 60gb PS3 in this last summer, the customer rep told me they keep an X amount of new 60gb PS3 in their inventory to replace ones that have gone out. Sure enough they sent me a brand new one that still had all plastic film on it.

I had to send my 60gb back, and got a 60gb back. Not the same unit, but it was definitely nice knowing I got the same BC back.

Does anybody know if you can send your PS3 back without the hard drive? I have pictures of my son that I can't afford to lose.

Thats a question to ask Sony actually as it depends on the circumstance of you sending in your PS3.

Also, just plug in a USB drive and copy it to it. the photo and select Copy and then USB drive.

according to the Sony person i talked to, the hard-drives are formatted to each PS3 you put it in. So, taking out your hard drive and placing it into a different one would not let you use it without formatting the Hard Drive.

Again, this is what the sales rep told me - and we all know how intelligent they can be. But yeah, back it up to a USB drive... or a memory stick or something.

I think they will complain about it if you don't include it, so I would definitely back them all up to a USB drive. In fact, I would back up the whole PS3 HDD and wipe it clean so that in case you don't get the same PS3 or HDD back you can rest assured that the pictures and anything else you have on it aren't floating around somewhere else in the world.
